I am working on my 1930 Regular Narrow tread and im wondering what style and size the rear rims would have been stock? It has rubber on it now but I want to switch it back to steel.

Also will be looking for other parts as well. I will be needing alot more parts so any help would be great!

Thanks

My uncle had a 1927 Regular that he bought new and used until the day he died in 1986.

It came with 28" steel rears. After they paved the road past his house in the 1940s, he installed 13.6 X 28 rubber tires on cut down wheels/rims.

I remember that he had two sets or rear steel wheels, one with alternating spikes, the other with angled lugs. Both sets layed against the side of his barn for twenty years or so before someone stopped by and bought them in the 60s.

Keep in mind that your tractors ground speed will be quite slow with 28" wheels. Many folks changed over to 38" rims when they converted to rubber tires.

The standard size steel rear wheels were 40" x 6" with spade lugs. However there were at least twelve different sizes and types of optional steel rear wheels. In the Mississippi Delta, the most common size on the Regular and F-20 was 42" x 12" with 5" spade lugs. Whatever you find that fits will probably be correct.

In the 1935 catalog, 40" diameter is the smallest diameter rear wheels listed. They range from 40" to 47" diameters for the F-20. I recounted the steel options. In the 35 F-20 listing there are fourteen (14) different rear steel wheel options, and three (3) pnemuatic rear wheel options; 11.25 x 28, 12.75 x 28, and 9.00 x 26.

In about 1940 and again about 1955 the tire size designations changed. I have listed the 1935 size with the 1940 and 1955 up sizes in parinces. 9.0 (11) (12.4), 10 (12) (13.6), 11.25 (13) (14.9), 12.75 (14) (16.9).

Husband and I are restoring a '31 Regular and have purchased a lot of parts through ebay or through the classified or photo adds right here on the YT website. He is the mechanic...I'm the parts procurement technician. LOL!

Right now there are a bunch of Regular parts listed on ebay - though the most recent tractor parts listed there were all painted red, but not a problem if you plan to repaint yours (husband is keeping ours rusty). They even have steel wheels on ebay... right now there is a set of front & rear steel listed with local pick-up.

The peole on this YT site hold a wealth of information and are very helpful and willing to share their immense base of knowledge!

Google Harold's Tractor... it is a website about a guy Harold Sohner who restored a Regular. It has a lot of technical specifications in one area of his website. (If I remember correctly, his grandfather and his father both worked at the Rock Island factory).

Also the book "FARMALL Regular and F-Series - Collector's Originality Guide" by Oscar H. Will III & Todd Markle is a very informative book... also available on ebay (we bought on for $17, some are more costly - so look around).
