With regard to the post about weird government spending being poofed, I think the problem the moderators had with it was that at the end you were asked to sign a petition by a foundation that is a conservative research organization, and that the post could be considered unpaid advertising.

The items about government spending were non controversial. I can't speak to getting Chinese ladies of the evening to drink responsibly, but I am somewhat familar with beach sand additions since we have beaches in SC and a large tax paying tourist industry. The beaches along the coast are basically sandbars which are at the mercy of winds and changing water currents. Tourist interests and beach front homeowners are all for beach "renourishment" as it is called. It is costly and local, state, and federal taxpayers are asked(told) to pay for this. If there is an ocean current taking away sand, it will take away the new sand also, so adding sand is a never ending project. Sometimes the currents shift and add sand. Somtimes a hurricane hits and the whole process starts over, paid in part by government subsidized insurance.

My observation from visiting the beach is that things shouldn't be built closer than 1/4 mile from the ocean but naturally this would leave valuable real estate unoccupied and not paying taxes to local governments, so they build within yards of the water line, which is constantly changing anyway.

Hate to tell you this, but they didn't get "poofed". They fell off the front page. I think the original is on page 3.

I think that wasn't the problem, since that same link in on another post that hasn't been "poofed". I think it was the last post that went into a rant about "propaganda" and "radical right wing crap" that got it "poofed".
