Wellington boot question

OK. Finally bought a pair of wellington boots. I was getting a little tired of lacing 8 inch boots multiple times a day.

Well, my heal fits a little loose and is slipping around. Question? Does your heal settle into the back of the boot so they don't slip around as much? I know they won't fit as tight as lace ups that you can crank tight the laces.

Thanks in advance,
Rick

Give them a little time and they will be OK. Wear them 1/2 a day and switch to your old boots until they are broke in. I have had Red Wing #866's for years. Love them.

What ya need to do is buy a pair from Mason shoes as you can order width . You may be like i am and have a narrow foot . Myself i like there work westerns . As i am still wearing the same pair i bought in now get this Sept 1977 , now i do not wear them everyday now but for the 8 years i had my semi they were worn every day while i was on the road . The only time that i took them off was to load and unload . I am not pulling you leg here i am dead serious . They said the soles would out last the uppers well they still have the same soles and same heals and they ain't dead yet I wear a 10.5 C width and my heal does not slop around in a good fitting bot.

My wife used to buy little cup-like pads to fit into the heel of her footwear. It fit around your heel and made it snug. I guess you could call it a shim.

The heal feeling a little loose is a characteristic of a Wellington style boot. You will get used to it over time.

They are getting a little better each day. They do fit my foot pretty good. Since my foot is a 15B that didn't leave too many choices, so I ended up with Red Wings.

Is it true that you have to be riding to the hounds chasing the fox in order to wear wellingtons?

Pay attention to how you walk since getting away from laceups.... I hate tieing shoes but am about convinced that the laziness has caused my heel and knee problems by compromising the ankle support.... The last few days I have been painfully concious of how I walk and keeping my ankle, knee, and foot aligned as much as possible and my knee & heel are showing a big improvement....

Good way to break thos boots in is either have a shoemaker put them on a machine to do it, or stand in a tub of warm water til they are saturated and wear/walk them dry.....
