O/T What would you do?

Lets say you and a friend came across a machine that cost $1 to play and had prizes worth about $200. The game had the prizes hanging by a string and you had to cut the string with the little scissors.

You and your friend are playing and this $200 prize is dangling by a thread and he"s out of money and there is another guy taking turns playing it. So you give your friend money to stay in rotation with you and this other guy and your friend get the prize.

If you won the prize using your friends money and wanted to keep it would you just keep it or split the value with your friend?

I'd cash the prize and get my $1 back and give the other guy playing the game the $199.

That way my friend and I would remain friends and there could be no hard feelings.

If the other guy got it why would your buddy get it also. Why would he split with him and not you?

Maybe I'm missing something???

You loaned the money so he could play. Not so you and he could play.

Unless he said "if you loan me a buck I'll split the prize with you if I win".

Given the situation I'd split the winnings with the friend that gave me the money to win it. To me that's the only fair way to do it.

Just like a deal I got into back in '09 cleaning out an abandoned house. I had a friend go with me to help load out some stuff I wanted. I had already found some money during the cleanup and told him that for helping me we'd split whatever was found 50/50. He picked up a Hardees bag off the floor and discovered over $600. We both took out families out to eat steak that night and had money left over........

If I'm gonna call someone a friend, I'll give them money and they'll give it back sometime when they have it. If they don't have it, they received a gift from a friend. If you and that person were really friends you wouldn't be here asking this.
A friend would say congrats and move on.........

Id never play with someone else's money and win and not offer to split it.

You were done playing and had the chance to keep going at someone else's expense, I always thought that was common courtesy to offer to split the winning since you had no chance to win without the help from the other person.

To be honest I wish the other guy would have won.

Guess if I was your "friend" (the guy you loaned the buck to) and knew you were like this... I'd give the prize to the third guy for a dollar, give you your dollar back, and walk away.... You wouldn't have to worry about hanging out with me or getting in any kinda deals with me again....

That's just me tho. Don't take offense because I didn't sugar coat it.

You should get your money back.

You shouldn't split the prize. Or expect that.

You loaned a few bucks, you should get the few bucks back.

Unless more was said, it was a loan, not an investment in the wonnings.

A good friend would probably give you a nice tip on that, but not 'split' the winnings with you.

That $200 was basically "found" money. If he was a true friend, he would split the winnings with you seeing as how he would have won nothing had you not loaned him the $1. If he kept the $200, unless he was in deep financial trouble, find another friend.

If I gave my fried a dollar to help him win something I would just be happy he won. After all, that's what I gave him the dollar for.

Some people use the term FRIEND too liberally. IF it was a true friend you wouldn't be on here would you? Money and friends never mix. Best way to end a friendship is to loan them money.

If my friend had lost would I expect my dollar back? If yes, then I'm only entitled to my one dollar back if he won.

If really I didn't want my friend to win I wouldn't have loaned/given him the dollar to begin with. Be happy for him, that's what friend are for.

You say you GAVE your friend the money, therefore it's now his to do as he thinks best. Get over it and keep your friend, they are harder to come by than money.

There is an old saying: If you loan a guy 50 dollars and he never pays it back, it was worth the 50 dollars for lesson learned. To find out about him and be rid of him.
