John Deere made this for sharpening their forage harvester knives.

The only axe grinding wheels I ever saw were pedal operated and ran in water. To run one from a tractor pully you would really have to reduce the speed a lot.

My grandfather had one back in the day. I kind of remember it, this was about 40 yrs ago and I'm 49 now. It had a couple of pillowblock bearings, a maybe 4" grinding wheel, and a 8" pulley. Was mounted on a wood frame that sat on the ground.

Got one of those sitting in the garage someplace. It has a grinding wheel on each end and a flat belt in the middle. If I remember right it's about a 4" wide belt. It sits on a metal stand that bolts to the floor. You can use about 1 1/2 hp. hit & miss engine around 500 rpm.

What about a simple solution.....Angle grinder blade on the tractor pulley?
Make sure you guard it well!
