I do now after seeing that. Just made a home grown ham today. Banana bread in the oven as we speak. Let me go out and do evening chores. I'll be back in an hour. You get the table set and pour the wine. I got some cottage cheese in the frig. Soon as I wash up we can eat.

Lookin good..... First thing the wife threw away when we moved in together was my crockpot.... She ain't too brite ya know......

Little lemon juice in the water'll keep the carrots from turnin black.....

I likes possum, the innerds taste jest as good the second day, if not better! Seriously, Mom makes a meatloaf, with 1/3 of each, venison, pork, and beef, And it is to die for! Add a sides of mashed taters, and stewed canned termaters, and spellin be damned, THERE is a meal!

Looks good, do ya use them turnips instead of tators.
Last day of deer season here in Va yesterday. Both me and my son Matt missed 1 and killed 1 each. I got 4 for the yr he had 3.

Looks good! We have a recipe called "dump stew".
Brown a bunch of cubed venison in a large kettle. Add an chopped onion or two. Then, we add a pint each of home canned - carrots, peas, green beans, corn, and a quart of home canned tiny potatoes. Simmer all afternoon. May want to thicken gravy, add salt and peepper to taste, and a little beef bulion.

Just finished a bowl of venison chili with cornbread from my home ground cornmeal. Stew looks good, even though I'm full now.

When my niece was small, we used to gather at my
grandmother's for Sunday dinner...and Mamaw
usually prepared a roast, potatoes, and carrots.
Of course, the potatoes got fished out and used to
make mashed taters, the broth was used to make
gravy, and the carrots were served in their own
separate dish.

At Mamaw's funeral last week, my niece, who's now
35, had to mention that "Mamaw made the best
"burnt carrots" in the world--they looked burnt,
but they tasted wonderful!"

Mamaw was 100 when she passed away on New Year's
Day...and we're gonna miss her "burnt carrots."

Looks mighty tasty Larry.
I need to get me one of those crock pots. Never owned one but I see them cheap at all the thrift stores.
I was working for a gal back in November for about 3 weeks remodeling her basement. She used a crock pot a couple of times. By about 2:00 in the afternoon it was kind of like torture working there as the smell came wafting through the house and made you hungry.
