Does the pour in slosh around fuel tank sealant really work?????? Any guidance/comments in this area would be most appreciated. Thank you! TPat

I used Redcoat in a gas tank on a jeep that probably had 100 pin hole leaks in it about six years ago and its still working. On mine it was rusted from the outside in so there was no rust in it. On one that is rusted inside, it needs to be cleaned with muriatic acid first.

Had someone do it to my tractor tank years ago. Don't know if they didn't do it right or not but pieces kept coming off and plugging up the screen in the sediment bowl for years.

it works well, i have done several. however, they take time and a lot of preparation. drain tank, pressure wash or steam clean it. get it dry right away. then de rust it. either with a media inside to break all the rust loose, or chemically treat it. then rinse again and get it dry right away. then 2 rinses with m.e.k. methly ethyl ketone. plug the drain hole, then pour in the tank liner. generally 2 quarts for a 20 gallon tank, like a farmall m. gently roll the tank all around to get complete coverage (not as easy as it sounds) then pour off any excess sealer and immediately open the dran hole and wipe away any sealant in the threads. prop the tank up somewhere for it to dry, keeping the sealant from flowing into the drain threads. let the tank dry until the is NO smell from the liner, generally 3 to 5 days. it can be put into service after that time. now, i tanke mine to a local radiator shop, they do it for about 125.00 dollars. the liner runs about 30 dollars or so a quart, and the mek about 15 dollars a gallon, you need two. so you have between 70 to 90 dollars in materials if you do it yourself.

Motorcycle dealers sell a kit made by Kreem. You might need 2 or 3 for a tractor tank but if you follow the directions like Glennster said, especially the prep, it works good. There's probably other brands that work well too.

I've used Red Kote in fuel tanks with good results. I've also used it to seal brass floats, cork floats, oil pans and even radiators.
