OT Sweet Corn

Seems that's going to vary a lot by climate and soil. Here in central New York, I use Seneca Wardance for early corn (bi-color SE) Incredible bi-color for mid-season corn (SE) and Silver King white corn for late season (SE). Those are my top three favorites. Silver King is great fresh and also one of the best freezer corns I've very come across.

Can't grow any SH corn here, and the old SUs don't produce near as well as some of these newer SE corns.

I like the Peaches and Crean or Bi Color. I always save a few ears and use it for seed. I can't tell the differance from the seed that is boughten.

Have used Merit for years. Great taste, easy to silk, matures about 60 days.

I live in Ky, and all I raise is incredible. It has a longer time to harvest before it gets too hard.

Jubilee! It is very sweet, has a great flavor, and even cut off the cob, and frozen, still tastes fresh, after being in the freezer 2 yr's. I wish the seasons would lenghten, so I could try country gentelman again.

Wife and I grow Delectable, been growing sweet corn for 50 years.Grew a small block of Country Gentleman and Stowells Evergreen ,good but Delectable is better.

I tried one of the super sweet hybrids last year, Burpees "Northern Xtra Sweet. It's a 67 day variety so I put it in first. What I got was smaller ear snad a lot of loss due to lodging. The stalks were thin and couldn't hold up to the wind. Kandy Kord further down the row was fine.
Also had good luck with the Burpee "Bi-Licious"

The best variety I have found is Xtra Tender 272, It is 72 days 40 to 50 sugar content, very tender, and holds very well in the field and yes it cost $20.00 per, I get almost twice as many seeds per pound compared to ambrosia...I only have to sell 48 ears and I have my seed paid for and once I have them coming for this corn they will not look at any other sweetcorn, I have already take sweetcorn and planted it in trays in the greenhouse and grew for a few weeks then took my corn planter and put fertilizer in it with no corn to mark the rows and put down some starter fertilizer and transplanted the sweetcorn in the field, I transplanted 4 rows 300 feet long, then I took planter put same variety in the boxes and planted 4 rows right along side the tranplanted corn and kept it all watered as needed and I gained 20 days on maturity on the transplanted sweetcorn and still got a nice cob
