Foreign tractor parts, law suit/lawyers - HOLY COW

I buy tractor parts now and then from the United Kingdom and sometimes Germany. Just got a new hydraulic pump for my IH from Scotland last week.

I got a check in the mail today as part of a law-suit settlement. It's for anybody that used their Vista or MasterCard charge-card for overseas purchases.

Called the "Foreign Currency Fee Litigation Settlement Fund."

It states that actual damage-claims came to $50,000,000. But, the lawyers are getting $20,000,000 out of the settlement.

My check is for $18.04. For that, I can almost take my family to MacDonalds for lunch.

I'm not complaining. I didn't ask for any of this. Never even heard about it until today.
 
I have no idea, but for $18, I'm not going to over-worry about it. If external_link wants to arrest me for not declaring my 18 bucks - so be it.

I've got no idea what the $18 is based on. How much I spent ? . . . or maybe everyone in the suit gets $18 (unless a lawyer).
 
If you took your family to mickey D's, they'll want you to pay a fat tax, or have mooshelle steal your McRib sandawich!
 
I got a small check as well, maybe a bit over ten bucks. Resulted from using a VISA card in Canada a few years back. The lawsuit covered several years of foreign usage.
 
Don't recall the exact defendats but banks/servicers whoever were charged with finagling the exchange rate calculations to unduly benefit themselves, and doing it so stupidly or carelessly (arrogantly?) that they got caught...
Yes, it grates that the atty's make the real killing, but if they didn't the banks etc would be keeping it all, laughing at all the "little people" they'd rooked...
 

One thing about taking the family to Mickey D, I bet you won’t be running to the lawyers that handled the case, you will have to put some more money with your windfall and go to the better steak houses to dine with them. :)
 
General motors ripped off investors including me with there bond scam.I lost several thousand dollars and got a 50 dollar check in the settlement.
