F150 3.7 litre

Just wondering if anyone has a 2011/12 F150 with the 3.7 litre V6 and what they thought they thought of it? Also if they've had any problems.

What are you going to use the truck for? The 3.7LV6 is s not going to have much power; shows 302 HP and 278 Torque, and the torque curve peaks at about 4000 RPM. From about 2000-3000 RPM shows about 250 torque. That will be pretty weak. The 5.0LV8 has 360HP and 380 Torque, and from 200-3000 RPM runs from 300-325 torque. The 5.0LV8 only lists 2 MPG less that the 3.7LV6. I got the 5.0 and have been very pleased with the power so far.
The real powerhouse is the new 3.5LV6 EcoBoost, which has twin turbos on it. 365 HP and 420 Torque, and the torque curve is much flatter with about 380 at 2000 and 420 at 3000. Downside is initial cost is higher and it is new engine in 2011.

Guy down the road has a 3.7, he says gets 20 mpg driving to work 45 miles one way. He likes it, doesn"t pull anything. His brother-in-law has a 3.5 thinks that is the only way to go. gets same mileage only more power. Wish they would make something like it for the 3/4 tons.

Well, it is not my old Cummins but I have a 2009 Dodge 2wd short box 1500 with the 3.7 v6. It is really spunky and has no trouble keeping up with traffic or passing it. No, I know it is not a HEMI but I bought the truck for 1/2 the price of a HEMI truck.

I think we have become spoiled with the power levels of these newer trucks as my v6 would run circles around a 318 from the 80's. Now I am not trying to pull large trailers with this truck so I can get by with less. I get 16 to 20 mpg depending on how fast I drive.

Those turbo Ferds are hard to beat for power and good mpg.

My Chevy 1/2 ton 379 c.i. diesel full-size 4WD pickup only has 240 lbs. of max torque at 2000 RPM and 136 horse at 3600 RPM - just as many of the 305 gassers had. Works well enough for a light-duty truck that isn't going to do any heavy towing.

For a light truck, this new Ford sounds impressive to me IF it can get 21. MPG or better on the highway.

My old 4WD K10 diesel gets 17 MPG around town and 22 MPG on the highway.

The Ford F150 4WD with the 3.7 is rated 17 MPG around town and 21 MPG highway as rated. But gas is a lot cheaper the diesel fuel now adays.

My in-laws have a new Ford Escape with the 2.5 in-line four. It gets up to 31 MPG with 6 people in it at 65 MPH. That too has me impressed. Plenty of power too - but obviously - it's not a pickup truck.

The EPA rates the new Escape as getting a best of 27 MPG but I know this new one gets 31 MPG. So, I wonder it the new F150 also does better then the EPA posts.
