Printer help

Have a Lexmark printer that will not let me
refill print cartridge. What brand can I buy
that will allow refill of ink? I use only
black ink to print. Thanks for any help.

I have a Canon that doesn"t complain about refilled cartridges. With most printers that object, they can reset with a short downloaded program, button sequence or a cartridge reseter.Goggle your printer make and model along with refilling cartridge.

Consider getting a laser printer. They cost a little more and the toner cartridges are expensive but the per page cost might be lower if you print a lot. Toner lasts forever and the print quality is really good.

Epson also say that the cartridges cannot be filled which I believed for awhile and purchased new all the time but my local store refills them now but only 3 times..

I use an Epson printer (Stylus Photo R340). Because the print head is separate from the cartridge, the factory cartridges aren't outrageously expensive. I don't save much money using refills or non-OEM cartridges, so I just buy new Epson cartridges. (Actually I don't think you can refill them; I've never tried.)

My wife wanted to have an all-in-one, so she bought a bottom-of-the-line HP. It costs far more per page to operate the HP than the Epson, so the HP is relegated to use as a copier/scanner.

The bottom line is that the more you pay for a printer, the cheaper it is to operate. Printer manufacturers give away cheap printers and make their money back on cartridges. Figure on spending $300 bucks or more on an inkjet that is halfway economical to operate. If you're printing a lot, say several hundred pages per month, then a laser printer is the way to go.

I agree with TomH, give that printer flying lessons, and get a laser. If you only print in black anyway, why spend money for color. I have had uniformly ppoor luck with inkjets, and gave up on them. Either they cost all outdoors for cartridges, or they clog up and require repeated cleaning (ink wasting), or both.
