Chipmunks shotgun

Just met up with a Florida-park neighbour from Indiana and he told me about his episode in September with chipmunks. Seem he was overrun this past summer so he decided to trim down their numbers. He pulled out a .22 and found his eyesight wasn't as good as it used to be, as he couldn't pick any off from his front semi-enclosed porch. So he goes and gets his 12 gauge. He lines up a shot and picks one off, but, the BOOM in the porch snapped both of his eardrums! He said he heard them snap, then nothing. No sound at all.
He's now got two hearing aids and seems to be coping very well.

Mrs. ShepFL did a similar thing few yrs. back. Fired her .357 at a large rattler. Shot out the passenger window of her Yukon as snake was lying across our driveway.

She called me YELLING that she just shot a snake. I asked her to quiet down and she said she could not hear a thing. :)

true enough! had to shot a dog with .22 mag. pistol with both of us underneath barn floor. Big mistake!!! deafened me for about 6 months. lesson learned hard way.

So there I was, driving out my drive, along side my pond, when Mr. Muskrat appeared. I had been after this rascal for awhile, so I unholstered my trusty Colt .22 magnum revolver and threw down on the rat. I missed him but did manage to deafen myself momentarily. Now I have tinnitus that causes me to hear a sound like crickets chirping. Like someone said in an earlier reply, DON'T shoot in an enclosed area. I leaned out of the drivers side window to shoot but obviously not enough. I have since learned that a .22 magnum's report can cause almost as much damage as a big bore rifle when shooting without ear protection.

I would rather be able to tell that story of how I broke my eardrums than the story my ex has to tell.

Let's just say she was tipsy at a New Years eve party and stuck swizzle sticks into her ears to be funny. No pain, no gain right? ALSO pain and loss, thankfully just one eardrum ruptured.

Thankfully also she was already my ex by many years when that happened.

She missed most of her birthday party this year as my daughter and a friend had to put her to bed early---if you get my drift.

Have to tell you the story of a neighbor of mine. Seems his fairly new mother-in-law was on his case one night, and his new wife was on her side. He grabbed a loaded shotgun and went down the hall acting like a fool and trying show her who was boss under his roof. He tripped on a throw rug, the gun went off, and put a hole in the hallway wall, through a bedroom ceiling, and exited the roof. Scared the he!! out of her, his wife, and him. He spent the next day fixing everything, and couldn't hear much of anything. But his wife and mother-in-law shut up and he didn't have to listen to either one complain. His MIL also treated him like gold after that- She knew he'd pull the trigger if she mouthed off too much!

Tony I have Winchester 36 9mm shotgun. Need trigger and trigger guard. You are only one I ever heard talk about the "garden gun" Dave
