What' a good price for a '41 JD A

We'll need a thurough description from the front to the back, tires, sheet metal, amount of wear, engine condition, special features if any just to mention a few and location, where are you located.
I bought this 1946 long hood "A"that spent it's entire working life on a Kansas farm, has origional (mostly) paint and is complete except for the generator for $1700 about eight years ago. I had to drive to Ft Worth Texas from West Tennessee to get it the last part of December. It's got the least amount of wear for a 66 year old tractor that I have ever seen (except for a International 8-16 Mogoul that spent it's entire life in a shed belted to a corn sheller)I've taken it to four or five shows and the front tires drove off their tread at one show so I had to put new tires on the front. I had to repair the rear rims as the tires had calcium chloride that pretty much ate up one rear rim.

I payed at auction a few years ago $963 for this 1948 John Deere A and it has an aftermarker 3 point that has become very usefull around the place! What did you give for your tractor? Can you post a picture?

Saw ones sell at an estate auction in ohio last week.It had all new firestone tires and had been overhauled the year before. It brought $1350.

Glenn from what i see up to $2000 Barring asside some unstyled or show quality restoration.

If you are happy with what you have and what you paid you got a good deal. Maybe someone else paid less for more but if you are happy the price really isn't important.

If you set around and wait for that great deal you may never get anything!

Rick

Depends a whole lot on what condition it is in. A pristine restoration could be over $3,000, while a running tractor might be 500-1000

Well, there's no "special premium price" on John Deere A's, there's just too many of 'em, so you pay for what you actually get...So many things to consider like is it running and how good? How are the tires(real expense these days)? Does it look decent? Is it what I really want? Then after all that it's down to what that type tractor usually brings on the average in your area.

I always wondered where they hid the engine on an A. it just looks like there's nothing there to drive the transmission!

Oh, Dad said a scalper was trying to steal an A from a widow needing money for $900. He said the like-new tires were worth more than that. I was still in highschool, so this was around 1995. I think that tractor hasn't seen 50 hours of use since he bought it, and most of that was turning an auger. Dad was a red man though.

Rick, Iknow what you mean, been looking for years for that great deal , finally I told myself you want a great deal yyou got to make it happen, And I did
