Hello
Does anyone have a diagram of the brakes on a 1958 861 ford powermaster. It appears that there has been a spacer added to to the hub/axle. It appears that you have to pull the axle to get the brake drum off.

thanks DJ.

There is no need to remove the axle in order to remove the brake drum.

If you have the (approximately) 8" spacers normally installed with power adjust wheels, unbolt it and remove it from the axle.

If you have the (approximately) 2" wheel spacer normally used on row crop tractors with mounted pickers, simply tap it a time or two with a mallet or brass hammer to loosen it and remove it. Now remove the lug stud extenders to access the brake drum.

I have spin out wheels. looks like that is what i need to do. there are about eight bolts on the inside of the backing plate. to me it looked like the axle would come out when i removed them. i am going to give that a try when it warms up here in alabama.

Thanks for the information HAPPY NEW YEAR DJ.

NO.

You do not need to remove the bolts on the inside of the backing plate to remove the brake drum.
