Farming in Kurdistan PICS

Since we got snowed out today, I thought I would post some pics of what farming looks like in the northern mountains of Kurdistan. Hope you enjoy.

I put a description with each photo but none of them appeared. Nothing in the pics is a real Deere. Wish I knew what happened to the comments. Sorry.

It's interesting to see how it's done around the world, thanks for posting those!

I remember going to Germany in 76. The army gave us briefing after briefing about the culture shock we would have. The Germans were not too different from us. Sure farming practices were somewhat different but not astoundingly so. When I went to Korea in 1980 there was a culture shock! Korean farmers in rice paddies behind water buffaloes!

Thanks for posting those!

There is certainly dramatic effort needed to make anything grow in that location. Thanks for the interesting Photos. Looks to be a bit of recombinant DNA (with Gene splicing in an almost cancerous mode) in the replication and adaptation efforts. Jim

Looks like they are raising rocks. Must be tough to make a any profit there let alone trying not to starve at the same time.

what the price of land ? with all them rocks it look like about 1500.00 a acre would make it a farmer dream.

When we tested the German Leopard and the M1A1 Abrams back in the late 1970's we used an old gas version M88 hooked to the last trailer. We need this when running drawbar pull in the lower
gears. A heavy drawbar was used to connect the rear of the M88 to the trailer. A test driver would run a partial stall in one of the forward gears holding the same engine speed. We could then use the controls in the field dynanmometer and trailers to set a certain road speed. Usually from the highest road speed in low range
until we reached a stall. Those vehicles had track slippage at stall. The Bradley was another big test project. Had a lot of transmission problems with the GE tranny. Hal

Just like Afganistan and Pakistan....better suited to landfill use than farming...fill it up and cover it up, nobody will ever miss it.
