I will never do that again... Rant...

Been working on getting a plow i got for free working. First thing was the tires and rims were really bad. Got the old tires off and welded a new rim on the one side. Doesn't look pretty but it works. So I started on the other side. Rims ok, did a little work to it. Put a tube in and mounted the tire myself. With 2 pry bars... took forever went to fill it and of course i must have punctured the tube.... I give up for the day. This is also after I put the new alternator on my 9N and it won't charge. So long day with nothing accomplished but frustration.

Son, anyone who works on machinery to any extent has had days like that. Now, don't that make you feel a whole lot better? Seriously, I think most of us can sympathize with you. Go fix yourself a good drink, (your choice of liquid), and just let 'er pass. Tomorrow is another opportunity.

Seems like the days before planting or harvesting.Seems like everything takes so long, and just when you think you're ready to go, there's something else wrong or that needs to be done. Just don't feel like you're alone- join the funny farm with the rest of us---

Putting just enough air in the tube to keep it round usually stops the puncture, the tool will glide over the tube instead of into it.

Once you pull the tube it also seems like the hole is right where you finished prying the tire on. Try beating the last few inches on instead of prying.

I worked for a guy last year (2010) who didn't want you using a hammer to finish putting on (or taking off) a tire because you might hurt the bead. So I'd fight it til he got out of hearing range and one or two hits with a hammer and it would be on.

Worst tire experience was years ago. Took JD 3020 to other farm five miles away to grind feed and ran over a nail.Flat tire and no electric on the farm.Jacked up the tractor and fixed the tire(no fluid) hauled the air in portable air tank.Guess how many trips that took only to realize that I pinched the tube.Had to brake the tire down take tube home, fix it again and start hauling air again. One whole day wasted to grind one batch of feed.I have not pinched a tube since.LOL

I suddenly dont feel so bad about my day. All I had was a horse cribbed on the hood of my truck on a hay delivery, grrrr. Made 75 bucks and it will take a 300 dollar paint job to fix it....
