Tractor Therapy and Hooters!

Walked up to the hay barn yesterday afternoon and cranked up "1011" one of our 53 Model 70s.

Drove down to the equipment shed and checked on the log splitter.

Decided to drive down to the bottom and check for any "pig damage" from the resident wild hog.

While slowly driving down the trail, started thinking about the upcoming new year and remembered that it was time replace my calendar.

Always look forward to the new year and a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuuIr-mNfoU">sneak preview of the Hooters calender</A>.

Wishing y'all a safe and happy new year.

Yes, Nancy is the self-appointed dispatcher of wild hogs.

She's always checking the fields for pig damage.

Shouldered her rifle one afternoon and headed for the woods.

I'll let her tell the story.

Happy New Years - James and Nancy
(But seems like Nancy does all the WORK)

glennsters "talkin" like he might come down our way to check out Tractor Supply, etc. BUT won't him close to Hooters till he has helped billonthefarm and ME get some things in order!

What's the project tractor there ? nice pics , ya did get me on the calendar though not at all what I expected..... I did re post it on another forum to see how many hits I get . LOL

Read your post below about y'alls get together.

Sounds like a good time to me.

Be sure to take some photos of the dog (Wrigley not [b:654c4848f0]glennster[/b:654c4848f0]) and post them for us.

The project tractor is "Lazarus" our 40B.

</a>

Bought "Lazarus" for the rear spoke wheels that are now on "Uncle Earl" our 39B.

<a href="http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa5/jameslloydhowell/John%20Deere%20Equipment/Uncle%20Earl/?action=view&amp;current=IMG_2831.jpg" target="_blank">

Lazarus seems to have something different I'm not familiar with. Is that some type of crank in clutch on the belt pulley ?

James,

You and Nancy are such upstanding individuals, I guessed that your hooters calendar would be a bunch of owls before I opened the link.

My wife was formerly an English teacher at Kennesaw State University in Kennesaw, GA. Their team mascot is the Owl. Their baseball stadium used to named Hooters Field. They eventually got enough criticism that they changed the name of the field to something else (I don't remember what the new name is).

Anyway, thanks for the pictures.

Didn't want to give away the punch line.

On my last two trips to "the bottom" a large owl flew from one tree to another along the trail.

Could have gotten a good picture yesterday as the owl watched me drive by.

We have several red-tailed hawks, but only one owl that I've seen.

There was a <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RuuIr-mNfoU">link to a video</a> with lots of hooters!

The October photo resembles my ex-wife.

The November photo looks like her mother.

Bought "Lazarus" as a complete tractor for the factory round spoke wheels only.

Have not "robbed" any other parts from it.

The motor was stuck, but removed the head and now have the motor turning freely.

Bought another head, rebuilt the magneto, and rebuilt the carb.

Have all the parts to put it back together, but...

Them are some of the prettiest hooters I've ever seen, thanks for the link. That's also a nice looking shed full of Deeres.

Sorry about the spelling/abbreviation.

Should have been either [i:654c4848f0]one of our [b:654c4848f0]'53[/b:654c4848f0] Model 70s[/i:654c4848f0] or [i:654c4848f0]one of our [b:654c4848f0]1953[/b:654c4848f0] Model 70s[/i:654c4848f0].

Here's a photo of "15" our other 1953 Model 70.

Thanks for the compliment on the equipment shed and tractors.

The tractor shed at the shop was damaged in a snow storm a couple of years ago.

We had planned on building an equipment shed for the balers, rake, and mowers.

Parked several tractors in the new equipment shed until the tractor shed was rebuilt.

(quoted from post at 03:05:12 12/31/11) ...The motor was stuck, but removed the head and now have the motor turning freely. Bought another head, rebuilt the magneto, and rebuilt the carb.

Have all the parts to put it back together, but...

Oh the suspense! Please elaborate further on the "but...."

Maybe this has been covered before and I missed it, but I have two other questions.

1) Of all your 2 cylinders: Which one is your personal favorite JD 2-cylinder (why)?
2) If you had to sell them all but one, which one would the one that you keep and why? (I am guessing one of the 70's since you could technically do everything in your haying operation with it in a pinch)

"Tractor Therapy and Hooters".

I'm ashamed to admit...I bit.
