O/T: Anyone here repair appliances?

Hey guys,

wondering if anyone here repairs appliances?

I don't want to get too into my problem if no one here can help much, but I'll give the long of the short of it..

I have a Maytag gas dryer model MDG7600AWW(with intellidry), it has been working fine.. well, up till just a couple days before Christmas..

Something got hold of the intellidry sensor and ripped it loose of the dryer, therefore, ripping the wires from the sensor..

I bought the new sensor, and as far as I can find, only 2 wires go to it.. (however, there are 4 prongs to connect wires..)

Well, I think something is not hooked up correctly (or perhaps the night it broke it cooked something else that works with the intellidry), because now when I set it to "auto dry" both lights light up constantly (one says more dry, other less dry, used to usually just light one at a time while running), and the timer will not advance (but works just fine on "time dry") I tried to find a wiring diagram online to verify I hooked the sensor up right, but had no luck there..

Ok.. Now that I probably have everyone confused, can anyone help me try to fix it?? I can provide more info if necessary..

Thanks in advance,

Brad

Don't know what your problem is but I found this diagram for you on a site called applicancepartspros.com Hope it helps you figure out what the problem is. Good luck.

Thank you guys.. For some reason I couldn't find just that.. I'll bet the site I ordered the part from had just the same as you guys posted.

It turns out dad and I did hook the sensor up improperly.. I just opened it up and had a look..

I also tossed in my damp towel and wash rag from my shower tonight and turned it on, and the lights did as they did before I had my breakdown last week.

Tomorrow I'll wash me a load and keep a eye on it to be sure it's fixed, but at least now the timer was turning.. The load I washed earlier ran for 40 minutes, and the timer never moved.. Good thing I didn't toss it in and hit the road like I usually would. Gas bill is rough enough as it is.. it don't need any help LOL

Will post another follow up tomorrow (well, today now) at some time..

my niece is a walking disaster, i replaces the lid switch on the washer 4 months ago, 4 months later, she overloads the washer with clothes, causing it to spin out of round breaking the switch i just put in. so i jumped the wires to work all the time and left a note taped on lid---NO BIG LOADS---another time had to replace rubber band on vacuum cleaner [twice]...and she wonders why i don't answer the phone all the time,,,glad when i working, piece and quite,,,i feel your pain..lol

Brad, you mentioned that it quit a few days before
Christmas. Was your dryer telling you it needed to
be replaced with a new Christmas model
or was it just coincidental
new years blessings

Kris, hopefully coincidental.. LOL.. I know if it did break it isn't because the better half wants a new one, as I am the "whole".. LOL

I'm sure a new dryer wouldn't hurt a thing, however, the $10 part that broke was a lot easier to swallow than a new dryer right this moment.. I'm sure in the long run, a new one would pay for itself though in gas savings.

The washer has a few problems too, but I have learned to "improvise and overcome" lol..

My home is a "manufactured home" that is on a basement.. This summer we're going to put in a new furnace and relocate it to the basement, and at that point, we also plan to relocate the washer/dryer (and I'm hoping to be able to afford new then) and I will keep the old and "less good" to wash my shop rags/clothes.

One step at a time..
