Luxury Tractor

For a company that's already in the toilet, someone's out of touch with reality. Besides, the people who can afford something like that pay SOMEONE ELSE to mow their lawn. Can't you picture this, someone buys one of these mowers, has a problem with it, calls Sears service. They tell him, "Well, we will send someone out to look at it just as soon as we figure out how to train them to fix it"!

Still just a lawn mower don't look like it is made for ground engaging equipment several others also made by MTD already have power steering and cup holders.

The real tractors like Cub Cadet up until the mid 80's made by International Harvester some had the power steering and would actually work a garden.

I cant justify 6000.00 for a lawn mower unless for some of the Z turns.

For the most part, the people that Sears "sends out" aren't even Sears employees. They're local repairmen who don't have enough business of their own to keep them busy,so they contract out to Sears to do their warranty work.

That isn't true. Sure most of em do but while at my local TORO dealer a couple of years ago I saw a guy write a check for an 8700 dollar Zero Turn. Not knowing the guy I ask him if he was opening a lawn service in the local area. Nope, he's some big wig from the Twin Cities who just can't see paying someone to mow his 1 acre lake shore place. I've seen his lake home from the lake. 3 docks, 2 pontoon boats, 3 fishing boats, 2 pleasure/ski boats and 6 jet skis. Comes up friday evening and mows then spends the rest of the weekend playing.

If a repairman doesn't have enough business to keep him busy, in most localities, then he obviously isn't much of a repairman, Around here, most shops have a backlog of two to four weeks in mowing season. They don't have time to make house calls.

Ya,that's where I was going with that. Same thing with their siding and home inprovement guys.

I own a Exmart mower with a cup holder,Its the worst gadjet ever put on a mower,I use it every now and then for holding my coffee cup. After the first round you cant see the cup for the grass, dirt, and leaves

My wife has a 48 inch Kubota mower with a 3 cylinder water cooled deisel engine, 4 wheel drive, hydraulic lift and power steering. Oh it also has a cup holder.

I'd bet that a lot more zero turns get sold to individuals than to lawn services.

The cup holder is on the fender on mine, and you're right about dust and dirt. I solved the problem by using one of those snap on can covers that makes it like a bottle. ( You've seen them advertised on TV) It works pretty well. Or I use a 16oz bottle and fill it with tea or H2O and screw the cap on.

That thing would be pretty for about an hour. My last one (weedeater) I turned upside down on a hill next to the wooded part of my yard. Took three people to drag it out.LOL

Hmmmmm a fancy Murray lawn mower, isn't that like the "Deluxe" Yugo? You can put a bow on a pile of poop, but it's still poop. The fact that Wal-Mart, Best Buy, Home Depot and Lowe's exist is living proof of how incompetent Sears management has been over the last 30 years. They were they largest retailer in the US, how did they let start-ups steal the niches from them even in areas they were strong (home improvement stuff, appliances audio-visual equipment tools power equipment).

You can put makeup on a pig, but you've wasted the makeup, and annoyed the pig. And you've still just got a pig.

There's another train of thought to consider. Ever went to a heavy equipment auction that had used golf carts for sale? They sell for more than the dealer would get for them because they are cheap compared to a $100,000+ piece of equipment. People that can afford fancy new cars usually have nice houses with big yards and having a fancy mower is just something else to show off.

A man shouldn't have a yard that's too big for his wife to keep mowed! Getting the fancy lawn equipment is just looking out for her.

LOL that's kinda how I look at it! I never plow more for the garden than the wife can keep weeded!
