I use the scissors trap and I have tried about everything. I have the best luck with the scissor trap - it is all I use.

google "Tomcat Mole Killer" very effective. I would also apply a havy dose of white grub kiler so there no reason for them to come back.

Kill their food supply and they will leave.
Insect killer should do the trick.
I had a mole problem at my old house, I tried to drown them, gullotine them, nothing worked, except killing off their food supply.

I think the one who went down my row of carrots and ate them all couldn't care less about insects. Little B@$t@rd$, anyhow.

I've heard all these things about you gotta dip the trap in magic solution, wear surgical gloves so you don't get your scent on the trap, etc., etc. I was rehabbing a foreclosure house, and we hired "The Mole Man" to get rid of the moles. He came over, had a bag of scissor traps with dirt all over them, took them out with bare hands and made the hole to set them, mounded dirt and pressed it down (again, with bare hands), and proceeded to catch every mole in the place. I asked him about all the stuff I'd heard- he laughed and said, "These little guys aren't rocket scientists- that's all a bunch of foolishness, to sell Magic Juice and to make you buy their traps. Just old fashioned traps, set right, will catch them."

There is what works and what is fun to use!
What works is those little windmill things. They sell them in the back of seed catalogs and DIY magazines. And danged if they don't work well.
What is more FUN is uncovering their fresh dug hole, lobbing a lit M-80 down it, covering it with a piece of plywood and standing on it! ALA Caddy Shack!
Another good one along those lines is to uncover a couple fresh hols and jam a lit road flare in one. Not as explosive but a good way to use up/play with flares.
Enjoy!.

best thing i ever found was a bunch of cats...this hill i live on was literally infested with gophers...i havent seen one near the house in over 10 years with the cats.

You might try to rent my SIL's miniature dachshund. He's killed 15 on my place this year---while she's walking him on his leash. He really goes after them.

Yeah! I hear you Mike! Had the same thing happen, to a row of carrots, and a row of beets! So much for storing them in the row, like in yr's past!

This spring we bought a MoleCat. It uses a .22 blank cartridge to kill moles. Works great so far. Must have got more than 20 moles during the summer. We have a lot of yard...

I used milky spores which kills the grubs that the moles feed on. it took about a week and a half but they left and haven't been back, and that was a year and a half ago. It doesn't take much but you have to give it a little time to work.

I looked up the "Rodenator"...uses O2 and propane..light it and it blows like Dynamite..!!

Myself, I have no problems with moles..the Loaded rear tires of the WD-45, 630 or JD "B" give them too bad of a Headache to stay around..!!!

For years in our landscape business the best is taking a steel rod and open up the tunnel under the hill. Put one cup of gasoline down the hole and light it. It will burn for about a minute and the carbon monoxide is heavier than air and goes thru all the tunnels under the ground. It will stay there until the moles come back thru an active run and get them every time. Please note I said a cup not a gallon of Gas!!! Migraine

Kill their food supply. Then fill your hose end sprayer with castor oil and soak your yard with castor oil. worked good for us.

The Rodenator videos are kewl. Looks like just enough danger to be fun.

My wife mixes up some ammonia and water in a sprayer, then sprays the area with activity. The moles seem to go somewhere else away from the concoction. I don't know if the ammonia drives away the moles or gets rid of the grubs and worms they're feasting on.

Very interesting what some of y'all have come up with.

As for me, I've been catching them with the old victor traps. Dig up a run, place two traps in either side, put a piece of plywood over the hole and put the dirt around the edge to hide the light coming through.

I hate gophers.
