Our 1086 is used all year long. We split this large elm trunk on Christmas day. The weather here in southwest Iowa is wonderful.

Nice looking IH 1086. Have you had the shifter update done? I always thought that the shifter location was just terrible on the 86 series. It seems that you can catch your pants/overhauls on the levers all of the time. Plus if you don't come to a complete stop they are hard to shift without grinding the gears. The doors where harder for big guys to get out of too. They are cheap horse power though.

Very nice looking 1086. Your loader is so much shinier than mine. I'm jealous!!If you take some 1/2" conduit and shape it a little you can flatten it and slide it right over the hyd levers to extend them up and back a bit. Your hyd lever knobs will go right on the conduit. Downfall to that is you have to be more careful going out the right side door and you lose a little 'feel' for the hydraulics. Upside is you don't have to bend down to reach the levers. Just had the shifting linkage completely renewed on my 10 and it really makes a big difference-to the tune of $1600.00. Jim

Have had a 1086 around our place since I was 2. Solid machine, as far as the shifter location always thought that was great for a loader even though we don't have the loader on it. LH shifters were nice on our 574 we used for a lot tractor when we were dairying. Nice looking pic, hope to get ours painted up like that sometime.
