how much lead to use ???

50-150yards & in full flight you need to hold on the leading edge of the shoulder. The problem here is not only have introduced lead to make the shot more difficult, but you now have to take a "punch the trigger" approach. Timing will be critical cause the only consistent way is to fire as the deers front legs hit the ground...or as all four are in the air.

To make this easier consider this methodology shared with me - The 3 B's of shooting running reindeer at less than 100 yards. Swing from rear to front - Butt, Brisket, BOOM!

Now mind you the above assumes you are using right bullet & load for the task at hand - might I recommend:

190 Hornady BTSP
73.0 grs H4831
.010" off the lands
Win Brass
CCI 250 Primer
Headspaced off the shoulder
Velocity 2938 fps

This gives you some long range reach should you need it :)

I sit in the living room and shoot straight up when their hoofs start scrapping across my roofing. I alway get at least one or two of those rotten beast.

Don't eat the one with the red nose. It is radioactive. You'll get sick if you eat that one. You can use it to "Light your trophy roomtonight", however.

Google is your friend. Here's the chart for a .243. Which should be pretty close, I think a .300 is around 200 fps faster than a .243, so lead a hair less.

Let us know how you do. I haven't had reindeer steak yet. I think you're only a few hours, so I could swing by when I'm in Ingersoll or Toronto.

Heck, that's easy. Just aim at the glowin' red dot and pull the trigger. Your bound to hit one if the ones trailing it.....

Depends on wether or not you want to kill the deer. If not, I would say at least 5 feet to be safe. Or, shoot behind the deer. Does this answer your question?

you put some cookies and milk out and wait for the sleigh to stop-------no lead needed.

finally found a few pics of deerseason.

Biggest thing is follow thru. Just don't point and shoot. Get in line with the movement, pull ahead, pull the trigger and keep the gun moving. They'll literally run right into it.
