o/t truck hoist

The hoist on the grain truck is awfully slow in this weather. Probably the same oil from 1958. The book says it has ice machine oil in it but 10 weight can be used. That seems really thin, doesn't it? It is a gear pump with twin lifting cylinders.

10 weight is normal for many hydraulic systems, and if the mfg says they recommend it then it should be OK.

10w is what it needs, later ones used 134 hydraulic fluid, anything thicker wont work worth a darn when it gets cold,

We switched the lift gates on our delivery trucks to airplane hyd oil, they work the same in the summer or winter.

If it has a filter in the system which it may inside the tank I would change it and see if it works any faster.
