When Dad was farming he would pay me 25 cents for each gopher I cought. I had a after school job in the 50's trapping gophers for a dary farmer. I think I got around 75 cents a hour. Which wasen't bad then. I have been trapping gophers on our church grounds recently. If the gopher enters the trap right he is hooked in the lungs, and dies quite fast. Sometimes I pull a gopher out still alive hooked by a leg, or cought in the gut area. Maybe I am turning into a old softy, but I don't like the idea of a animal suffering a slow death in my tap.
