Hey guys I need a little advice. I've put decals on lots of tractors and always got along just fine but I have a set for this 44 and I'm a little worried since they are so darn long.

I know there are people that spary windex or something underneath before installing. How does that work? Any other good ideas? Would be nice to be able to tweak them a little once they are on just in case they arent right. I will try to put them on tomorrow, if the cows done have different plans for me, and I will post some hopefully successfull pictures! Thanks a million.

Friend of mine runs a vinyl business on the side (dump trucks, milk haulers, stock cars, race trailers, etc.). When he delivers my vinyl he includes a half-pint size spray bottle of his "secret mixture" - distilled water, a couple of drops of hand dishwashing soap and a tablespoon of isopropyl alcohol. The mixture provides a cushion between the adhesive and the surface the decal will adhere to. It gives you time to position the decal properly and helps to work air (in this case liquid) bubbles and pockets out. The alcohol acts as a secondary cleaning agent. Use a hair drier and a soft cloth afterward to go over the entire decal to help adhesion. Avoid washing, rain, snow and especially waxing, etc. for several days if possible. You may notice small bumps from lint or dust. Most of those will "draw in" with time. Do not use windex, you may compromise the adhesive.

Just mix some warm water with a few drops of dish soap and spray the area where the decal goes. Then work the air bubbles out. Works best with two people. We did a 4430 this summer and it worked good for us. Ours was in 3 pieces. put it up there first and decide where you want it and cut to fit then spray the area and peel the back off as you go. I would get all of he old decal off first. That is the hard part. Our's was a new paint job so we did not have to fight the old glue. Good luck.

I'm shopping for a set for my JD 2750. I see the ones on Ebay. Are they OK, or is there somewhere else I should look?

Thanks!
Jim

When I worked in the truck shop, I used to apply the name decals on the trucks. I used soapy water. just plain old truckwash soap in water. I would wipe it on with a rag, place the decal, double check the position, and squeegee the decal flat and tight., then walk away. just wait a week or so before pressure washing.

Windex works quite well. Gives you plenty of time to get the decals in the "just right" position, and then use a sponge to squeeze out the air pockets. If there is a bubble that just can't be squeezed out, small puncture wound it with a pin and then flatten it out.
