A little Christmas prayer from the farm

Good evening everyone,
Tonight as I walked out of the barn from evening chores I took a few minutes to say a little Christmas prayer. I stopped a little ways from the barn and looked up into the clear starry night on this first day of Winter and thanked God for what he has given me on my little farm. I asked God to bless my family as we gather this weekend for Christmas with the kids. Although my son will not be with us again as he is doing his 2nd tour of duty with the Minnesota National Guard in Kuwait. I asked God to watch over him also for he is doing more for the citizens of the USA than most of will ever do in a lifetime. As I asked God for these things, I had tear filled eyes because Christmas is very special to me. So I want to say Merry Christmas to all of you and God Bless our military as they will be in our hearts this Christmas time. Take care all. God Bless you! Merry Christmas!

Kow, you sound like a fine man. If you get a chance, tell your son that I said "Thanks". I hope you and your family have a great year uo in Minnafrozen(just funning on that). Merry Christmas.

Merry Christmas and A Blessed New Year to you and your family and sent a prayer of thanks and safe keeping for your son.

Thank you Bob,
That really means a lot to me. I truly enjoy the people on this website. Even though most of us don't know each other, it's comments like yours that put a smile on my face every day. I don't know if I will get a chance to skype with him on Christmas or not, but will extend the thanks. Take care Bob.

Deep in my heart I am wishing for your son as well as all military to be safe now and forever. The Flying Belgian. That being said I want to tell a little story. When we were growing up on the farm Pa always told us the animals talk on Christmas eve. So if you don't want them saying bad things about you then make sure they are well cared for tonight. We never questioned it. It sounded just as reasonable as there being a Santa Clause or a virgin Mary. I was about 18 years old before I realized it was just a ploy to get us to pay attention to the "chores" and do an extra special job of feeding and bedding the livestock as we were in a rush to get in the house to open presents.

Flying Belgian,
Thank for the kind words for my son. I can relate to the extra feed and bedding for the livestock at Christmas time. Call me crazy, but I do talk to my animals everyday while I care for them. And I usually feed them and bed them more at Christmas time too. Thanks for your story.
It was great to read. Oh by the way. Did you sell the 550 MF combine? I seen one like your's at Zin's implement in Nicollet not long ago. Just curious. Take care.

Kow, negative on the 550. Actually mine is a 750. Couple years ago I thought about trading up to something a little newer but I would want a Case if I ever do trade and seeing as how I need 3 heads which would have to become Case the price was out of my league. Found a real nice 1640 over at Sleepy Eye for a reasonable price but would have taken more to buy the heads then the separator. So I fixed all the little details on the old 750 and I dare say it is the nicest 750 you will find anywhere. When you see me working along the hyway, stop and visit sometime.

Sorry about the wrong number on the MF. I did see the 750 this Fall on the North side of the highway. Sure looked like a nice combine. Do you have 1 or 2 McCormick FWA tractors? I thought I seen them out plowing on the North side of the highway this Fall too. Looked nice too. Take care.

Thank your son for serving his Country and Merry Christmas to you also. I remember when one of my sons served in Iraq right when the war started, if one of those government vehicles ever drove in the driveway Im sure I would have had a grief heart attack and died right on the spot. I plan to post this for all closer to Christmas but heres your early Christmas present from me, the song is special at Christmas and this version and the lady singing and the setting is in total one of the most beautiful sights and sounds Ive seen in my life. Check it out..This year all 3 of our kids with grandkids in tow are making it home for Christmas which I love, unfortunately, I'm one of those persons who get extremely depressed over Christmas so its sort of bittersweet.

Best wishes

I have two. The smaller one still carries the CaseIH brand but became a McCormick the year after this one was built. Brother in law was running the big one with the JD vari-width plow and I was running the 85 hp. with an Oliver plow that my wife inherited from her dad. I am sure it was an ok plow in the day but i"ll tell you what, if that Oliver was my only plow, I'd have to quit farming. And that dealer in Judson.....eye, eye, eye.
