My new bubble lights don't work!

You turn these things on and hours later they're still not bubbling. You flick them with your finger finger and they work. But every time they cool off, this procedure must be repeated. What's inside these things? How come they don't build pressure and explode? Fritz

Maybe your room temperature isn't warm enough. They get very hot-ones we had back in the 50's would eventually melt the plastic base. So it's possible new ones are too energy efficient to be usable.

The liquid-filled tube must be in direct contact with the hot lightbulb and nearly Vertical, for them to start bubbling on their own..
