JP-8 in Dozer

Have found a source for some free JP8 and wondering if its ok to run this in an Allis HD5 with the detroit 271 diesel? I know several of you guys are retired GIs like myself and have worked around military vehicles with multifuel capabilities. Thanks for any input.

I wouldn;t use it straight, but have some fuel filters on hand, my old guard unit gensets seemed to need filters replaced more frequently, when using jp-8

JP8 won't hurt the plunger pumps in Detroit 2-strokes. It does shorten the life of a rotary pump.

We used JP8 for a while after we got the M1 tanks. Don't know if it affected the life of piston engines but they ran it. I do know that you do not run the smoke generator while using JP4 in the M1 tank.....Looks like a blow torch!

Just before I got out of the Army they changed over to JP8 for all vehicles. So shouldn't be a problem.
