How to remove rear wheel weights from a 1966 Ford 3000 Tractor? Do the weights have to come off all together, or can they be removed one at a time? If they can be removed one at a time, how is this done?

normally,

each weight is bolted by 3 bolts to in next weight. and then that weight is bolted, using 3 other holes, to the next weight.

so.. remove the outter 3 bolts and drop off the first weight. try to keep it off your toes as they are around 70lbs a piece.

assuming your talking ford rear wheel weights.

pie weights, inner axle weights, front weights and others will be different.

If you have the so-called "pie" segment weights, you should remove the weights individually. Simply remove the 5/8" bolt securing each segment.

Use an impact wrench to minimize the chance of breaking the bolts if they have not been removed for a long time.

I have used my hay spike to assist in weight removal. I just put the spike point against the wheel and slowly raise it till it is touching the top inside of the weight. As the weight comes loose, it easily slides down the spike to the loader frame and it is a walk in the park.

Installation is the reverse with the addition of a pointed "fid"....steel rod with a claw on one end and the other tapers to somewhat of a point. Stick it in the bolt hole from the back side and wiggle till you get the bolt started.

I have removed the whole stack by putting a length of 2 X 6 below the stack and shimming it up tight and supporting the other end of the 2 X 6 on a floor jack. I was able to take one weight at a time off the last mounting bolt. Hope this helps you.
