That joke has been around for decades. Till a couple of years ago that would describe a fair number of farmers in the area. Most had enough money to put on a good show with a new building and equipment yet I never saw the combine bins heap with load after load of grain to show it came from operations. Oh well. We are all free to do what we see fit to do with our money.

You can make a million dollars in aviation if you start with a 100!
1st time I heard that was in 71 when we moved to farm country (thats why I remember the year) and it went....
A farmer was ask what he would do if he won a million dollars....he replied.....keep farming till it was gone.
Being a city kid (16) at the time I didn't understand it.....but I do now.

Grow cotton. The cotton impregnetated paper and a a good computer with high resolution color printer and a million dollars is a few cliks away. You must use a double sidedprint, however. It works better if you copy older series smaller bills $5 & $10s, as they get challenged less.

For the past few years In my neck of the woods, if you own your land or 50/50 crop share, It's been possible to do that but only if you farm enough land and have your debt load down to near zero. We grow corn and soybeans. If you're paying $400/acre cash rent, and are making payments on new machinery, you're gonna have to win the lottery to make and keep a million. Quite a few independent farmers around here are borrowing seven figures just for op loans. Jim

Well, if you're still fairly young, you've got a chance. Move to a Southern State and get into politics. Once you make State Senator or District Represenitive you'll figure it out, most of 'em in there now have.
