I keep getting the error code to calibrate the clutch packs, Tractor Micro Processor loses it's calibration values. Recalibrate, tractor moves about a foot same thing again. Checked voltage to the processor, cable connections found everything okay. Came up with it must be the processor.
Guess what happened when my dealer ordered one from New Holland parts. New Holland says they don't have one and don't plan to have any.
Poor Poor business.
 
Try on uk farming forums, I think they have aftermarkets ones available. 7740 very common over there. Might not even be a computer problem, maybe wiring harness.
 
Yes Sir I wish it was cable or connectors but my dealer service manager and I put together our heads with all the facts and thats what we came up with.
I'am finding out this processor has been a disaster for New Holland from the beginning. They change to a different one in 1993.
 
So is there a technical bulletin that might show you how to upgrade to the other processor? Or an aftermarket solution.
NH likely has some sort of solution.... it may not be cheap, but they generally don't leave a tractor of that vintage in the lurch with no support.

New Holland experts are working on the problem. My dealer and I are waiting to see if they come up with a solution or a new tractor. I can't wait to see how this turns out.
 
I'm sure they'll come up with something. I am sure it won't be a new tractor tho... unless you write them a cheque for about 90K.
Usually there is an update for these type of situations, especially where a known problem may have existed. You may simply have one that didn't get an update or something like that.

My friend had one of these tractors that gave the same problems, After 2 weeks and many £s later the NH dealer gave up. He tore into it himself and found a frayed wire near the foot throttle. Fixed it with a piece of pvc insulating tape for a few pennies.
These are quite good tractors especially the black cab and grey cab versions, believe me you don't want an SL version!
