Happy holidays from the south I am currently feeding out three hogs for the freezer there all gilts I may keep one to breed I really haven"t been around hogs since high school and I"m really liking it I bought an old John Deere 14 hammermill with the pto and trailer option been grinding my corn have an endless supply of soybean meal for free but I have come up with some cheese scraps from a cheese plant I think I can get but I would probably have to take it all which might mean tons if this would be a good feed i might start finishing out a lot of hogs what are yalls thoughts on this I guess my next biggest obstacle would be selling Carolina Pride has a packing plant about an hour away I know they slaughter about 3500 a day but I haven"t talked to them also I would be raising them on dirt please share yours thoughts Thanks

Watch the ammount of soybean meal, Its a good way to give them the "runs".LOL Cheese?? Not sure about that.In humans they say cheese is "binding",but Im dont know how it will effect hogs. Have you thought about feeding bread? I get outdated and over run bread from a bakery outlet store.$7 a rack, thats about 120 loafs. We feed about a rack a day to our beef cows.goats, llahmas, chickens, and even the donkeys eat it.They also get hay and grain. The bread is just a supplement to their diet. Has cut my feed usage in half....Doug
