OT question for computer gurus

I don't know, but a while back someone posted a method here to download the whole thing without playing it. Then you could replay it without interruption. Sure hope someone knows how to do it, I don't.

I have heard that if you are on dialup service this eratic behaviour is common. A switch to DSL supposedly a faster service will eliminate this annoying complaint. I have Qwest/Centurylink DSL and frequent the You Tubes Video's often and have very good viewing pleasure for what ever I choose. Cable or Sattelite I can't comment on as I know nothing about these services.

I"ve found that letting it run its course, seconds at a time- hit "replay" and it goes straight through. Takes lotsa time, tho.

It all depends on the quality of the recording. Higher definition videos have more information making a larger file. Lower quality, less size and faster download.

If it's a Youtube video, or many others, just click the pause button as soon as it starts. The little progress bar at the bottom will turn gray as it downloads.

Once the whole bar is gray, you'll be able to click play and watch the entire video in one shot.

You could also have a virus or not enough memory. Can you check your internet speed? I just checked my speed at speedtest.net, I had 30.40 meg download and 4.11 upload, I also have a program called "websense" which limits the type of images and videos I am able to watch. (not my computer/belongs to the company I work for) so that can also slow down the videos.

The gray area on the progress bar shows the download speed. If you click on pause and let the gray bar get about an inch ahead of the red indicator then click on play it will probably play the entire video.By letting the gray bar go to the end will just take up more time.
Works for my computer all the time.

The reason that I'm asking is that I'm planing to buy a new video camera and was wondering if it made a difference which one I bought.

Read what Bob has to say, it may be time to upgrade your browser. I use Firefox and it stores everything like he says, until you shut it off or restart your computer which slows down Utube videos. I put Google Chrome in and when you X out something, it's gone. He's right, it is faster for these You tube videos. If you are using Internet Explorer, get rid of it.

(quoted from post at 01:09:42 12/08/11) Why do some videos run all the way though with out stopping and some stop and start all the time.

If you are referring to YouTube, News clips and such, it's all about the buffer space used to download the material into. If your connection speed is low the clip will pause because you have run out of buffer space , i.e. you have a small pipe and the info can not get through the pipe quick enough as your pc processes faster than the flow, so it needs to wait.

As another poster mentioned use the pause button so the pc will load or buffer all the content before the pc tries to process it.
