1996 Blazer Tranny problem

I have a 96 blazer with an automatic and a V 6.The tranny has gone south. Only gear that works is 2nd. No reverse and will try to pull in neutral. Is this thing worth messing with or just go and get a rebuilt out of a parts house?

Thanks,

Greg

I drove a 96 S-10 Blazer as a company truck. The tranmisson slip so bad the day it died that it was like the tires were spinning on ice.

If the transmission has alot of miles, it might be better to get a complete rebuild.

Tryin' to pull itself in neutral just isn't a good sign.

Yank the codes and you'll probably see a 'ratio error' light up.

It can be either rebuilt or replaced; all depends on how much money you want to throw at it.

Did this all start the other morning when it was so cold?

Thanks guys. About 160k on this thing. Allen, yep first good cold snap and she gave up.

Thanks,

Greg
