If anyone needs all the current bearing and seal numbers to completely replace every bearing and seal in the transmission, final drive, steering, pto,and throw out bearing on a John Deere 420 or 430 serial number 125000 and up with 5 speed, and live pto,I have them. I would be glad to share. I have rebuilt three of these and it took me several hours and trips to the local bearing and seal store to get these all matched up. Most of these can be purchased through Napa or similar retailer. I can also supply pictures of the inside of the trans, final drives, and pto. I also have pics of the inside of the Hydraulic unit, and what it take's to restore the unit. Hope this might help someone.

If you could be bothered to send that to me in an e-mail it would be hugely appreciated. my username @yahoo dot com.
Thanks!

That is real good of you, the way the World should work, We can benefit from each other.
But it needs a cleanout first.

I have a 425 just lost the hydrostat and transmission fluid has been getting weak all summer. asked dealer what cost to fix starts at about $1200. asked about doing my self said dorn recomend it, unless have had one apart before. I have a tec manual and average mechinical skills wondering how different the 420 is from the 425. did you have previous experience?

I have done the same on my mower deck and gear box lately too. Some were higher from Deere some cheaper ? But now in the end I really wonder if I saved anything at all because of all the messing around to get it done ? Only one order from Deere would of been needed instead either picked up or dropped at my door.

I am not sure what you mean by a 425. Is that a garden tractor? I have never been into a hydrostat transmission. I am a ASE Master Automotive Technician of 20 years. I have been able to apply my experience and knowledge of cars and trucks toward Tractors, and have been very successful at repairing/rebuilding them. I have mostly stuck to the small two cylinder Debuque tractors. I would be happy to assist to the best of my ability. My guess is that there may be a few specialy tools that might need to be obtained...??

I should add that these seal and bearing numbers are for a JD 420U, 430U Two Cylinder agricultural tractors serial number 125000 and up, built from 1957-1960. Sorry for the confusion...
