skids for 3pt blade

On 3 point blade; i need a place to buy the skids that you can lower to keep from digging up the rock and gravel when moving snow. I've seen them on some blades from the factory but it seems the first thing people do when they make a cheaper blade is remove them. or any good ways to make them!

I have made several sets by using the round skids made for a pickup snow plow. BLain's Farm and fleet have them that come with a set of spacers. I just take a piece of heavy pipe of the correct size and make my own mounts. I like the rounded ones as they don't dig when you change angles.
Boss Snowplow Shoes Cost 60 per pair

i made a set for a neighbors box blade out of some old disk blades and some 2&3/8 tubing...works fine...not much snow down here but i bet the water under snow will make disk blade slide and not throw sparks.

The latest thing seems to be bolting a piece of 2" pipe to the edge for the first part of the plowing season before the ground freezes.

I did that years ago for a plow I used no my 8n in southern MI. I found that when the ground was soft they were useless. Once it froze, they when"t needed. Just lived with raking gravel in the spring until I put the cement in. I think the pipe idea would be much better depending on your area and if the ground freezes hard.

for gravel the 2 inch pipe idea is the way to go, if the gravel is loose most skids will dig in and you'll still push up gravel, the pipe rides on top, and forces the stone under it, cheap and effective, simply unbolt it to use the blade as a dirt blade later

Here's the one I built. OLD gave me the idea so he gets the credit.

On gravel the skids still tend to dig in, while the pipe does not since the load is more evenly spread out. Plus this will slide right across my asphalt and concrete areas without a problem.

Pipe is 2" sch 40.

I made skids for my Jubilee. Skids worked fine, however when the weight of the blade was removed from the rear wheels and rested on the skids, I got stuck in 2 inches of snow. Removed skids and still had to add chains.

Grade your drives before it snows. You will remove less gravel. Also grade in such a way that your spoils don't end up on grass.

Lamar,
I looked at the TSC web site but cannot find any rear skids. Can you give me more information like item number. Thanks
