Idiot Deer hunters!!!!

Got woke up this morning to the sound of the dogs raising cane in the drive way. Looked out and I had four pickups parked in my barn yard. This is at 5:30 AM Sunday morning. All of them had out of county license plates. I hurried out as one fellow was pointing his gun at my dogs. I asked them what the heck they where doing. The same gun pointing fellow started to get mouthy about "going deer hunting Grand PA". They all thought that was a great joke. He is not one of my grand kids, just a smarta$$.

There where a total of thirteen of them there. I asked them why they thought that they could hunt here? They said they had permission from the owner. I asked to see a copy of that in writing. The one had a paper stating that he could hunt on So and So's property. It was not dated. I now own the property his note talked about. I have owned it for over five years. I asked him when he had gotten permission to hunt there. He told me that it was when he was in college in Dubuque, eight years ago.

He got all mad when I told him he had three problems.
1) He was not even at the right property. It is a mile down the road.
2) I now own the property and do not allow any hunting by non family members.
3) His permission slip/note was not for this hunting season.

They started to get a little loud until my sons rolled in all armed with shot guns. (wife had called them, we had an older guy beat up a few years ago by some hunters. I had my pistols under my coat) I told the hunters that they had better leave and not come back. I over heard one of them tell the others that they would go down the road and hunt there. I told them that this entire road was off limits. Between myself, my Dad, my sons, and my brother we own or control all of the ground on this road.

They left but I wonder where they went. I am willing to bet that they are going to hunt but don't give a rats butt about having permission.

Another nail in any hunters coffin around here. It just seems we keep getting all of the idiots around me. LOL An old friend says the reason old guys are grumpy is that our BS filter is plugged up by too many years of BS.

Another good reason for concealed carry. You never know who you will encounter. A better reason still is at the age of 64, I am not as tough and fast anymore, to physiclly take on someone younger. My sidearm is my equalizer.

yep, last year some fellers came out of Illinois & shot the neighbors tractor, this year he wrapped orange tape around it, yep you guessed it, its a John Deer

I ran into a dozen, exactly one dozen intoxicated hunters in the Adirondack mountains 11 or so years ago. You don't have to wear a back tag, if you do, they know you are from out of town, I had forgot and had mine displayed. After greeting them "Hello, good morning, How are you ?" etc. while walking through, one said, you don't have to wear that here and it really pi$$es me off that you have one on in our woods. I responded by telling him what I thought, from a distance while gaining more distance. I then made sure to get some distance from them, flanked and observed their camp under some concealment. They were talking amongst themselves, fumbling around with firearms, reeked of booze when I was near them. These people, reckless hunters concerned me, I did tell em to buzz off too, but I made sure to count them and observe them for over an hour. The one thing you don't know about me, is not only do I carry a 9lb infantry rifle an M1A, with ease, I shoot it very accurately, had 100 rounds of ammo for that and a side arm, .22 with a box of 500 rounds, so that city slicker who back talked you, and you think is a pushover would not hesitate to respond if confronted, thankfully they did not, I went on my way, met up with my partner, and at the end of the day went right through the middle of their camp again, it was in the middle of the main trail. State land, groups of people with firearms, that are intoxicated, are on my hate list, done with state land hunting, no need to deal with people like this. More fun to run my tractor without power steering LOL !!!!

Sounds like an unruly bunch you have there JD, don't turn your back on them for a minute.

You should have got their license plate #s and turned them into the cops......I would have made some comments that would have been way worse and it would have gotten real ugly. Having a gun pulled on my land, and I dont know you. You are asking for some real pain.

I am a deer hunter and I am so sorry that you are having such a problem with all of these knot heads. They give the rest of us a very bad rep. The Gent that allows me to hunt is so nice. I always try and send him a gift card to a nice reasturant for him and his wife. He does not hunt so this your year I took and sat with his grandson and he took a nice 8 pt from my stand. No deer is worth offending the land owner. EVER!
1. I feel it is a great privaligde when anyone allows someone else on to their land.
2. I enjoy building a relationship with the owner. If I keep my mouth shut and my ears open I can learn a lot.
3. I was taught to show respect to anyone that is my elder. Right or wrong to show respect.
4. Sounds like those guys need a good old fashion butt stompin.
5. Please allow me to apologize for their bad behavior. They are no sportsman.

I hear more and more land owners around my town. Not letting any hunters on their land. Uless thet show respect for the property, and follow the rules. Hopefully it will cut out the idiots.

PAGlenn, just be careful about what the law calls "brandishing." OK to carry within your state laws, but when you get to using the gun or referring to it as a threat, all bets are off, and the judge may not be very kind to you even if you"re in the right - your place, they"re treaspassing, etc.

Good for you! My uncle owns two farms and lets a father, son, and daughter all hunt his land, and they too respect it and bring my uncle freshly made pies and such for letting them on his land, good kids, and a good parent with them. Good people are still out there............

Recently a farm owner over the age of 70 was beaten up my area by a trespasser/hunter age 45. In NC, assault on a person over age 65 is a felony. So now our erstwhile hunter not only has no place to hunt, he can never again lawfully possess a firearm.

how far from dubuque? Im having problems with the hunters from town dumping the remains of their deer on my property. I could hear at least 4 coyotes out the other night when the found the remains. I gotta get me a trail cam or something..

I was in my ground blind the 3rd day of rifle season on my property, I thought I was all set for old mossy horn. I'm a paraplegic and use a wheelchair to get around, I had put up the blind back in Aug, so the brush had already started growing back around it. I'm setting there about an hour after first light and here comes this dude in a ghillie/sniper suit with a dang cross bow walking around the edge of our food plot. I have 'No Tresspassing' signs around my perimeter. The guy was walking with his head down looking for tracks. I let him get about 15 yds. away when I yelled things I can't type on here. He took off back toward my neighbors like his pants were afire and the creek was a long way away. As an after thought, I wondered if I oughta cracked a round from my 30/30 into the ground. What would yall have done?

I let two guys hunt behind my property. I only asked that they call first so I can move my car in the other driveway. Nope, drive right around it on the lawn to get back by my barn and park. Not once did they call ahead. Wife is mad because she goes into the bathroom and a guy is in the back at 5 am staring up at her in the window. Not one venison steak, and also asked that they email me some pics of bucks, coyotes whatever they got on the game camera placed on a tree . Got one email of a coyote. Next year they can go somewhere else .Deer are running rampant but a deal is a deal.Seems like they forgot anything I asked, which was minimal. You did the right thing by approching them with handguns hidden. The most dangerous job in law enforcment is conservation officer because everyone you approach is armed and half of them drunk.
