Had not been on here in a while.I bought a 1175 Case a couple months ago, but never had time to work on it due to picking corn and other field work along with chores and a full time job. I bought it with a bad head gasket, and started to work on it yesterday. The hood gave me the biggest problem, but after that was out of the way I removed the manifolds and am down to the heads to remove. the turbo is showing some rotten cast along with the rest of the exaust manifold so I ordered them new from here this morning. I got the head gasket set right after I got the tractor. Case is a new to me brand, for I have never worked on one. Any insights would be great. Thanks for reading, Tom

there are alignment dowels that you are supposed to use for aligning the head gasket, square the head to the other two before you torque it down, make sure you have proper sleeve protusion, my dad said more than once "Case never built a bad engine!" In my opinion the direct injected 401/451/504 are very durable, fuel efficient engines with a ton of torque

They where a good older simple tractor. The engines usually held up well if they where not turned up to much. The hood was a tough to get off. They where designed without a cab and then the cab was added. The back half goes back under the cab and is hard to get off. You should try to get the brake valve off. It will make you loose your religion.

Good luck with your new tractor.
