Some times you DO get lucky

Saw an ad in a local paper here for a 4 cyl Deutz engine with an attached generator for parts only. Called the guy and he told me the engine was locked up or something had come apart in it..Called a "mechanic" to look at it and told him it was no good. I bought it for a really good price, hauled it home, and after tightening up the ground cable...runs like a clock. Don't happen that way very often
 

Don't count them chickens yet..... Good for ya but somethin's gonna counter it.... My luck anyway...... :roll:

Yep, bought a Buick for about half the asking price because power seat and radio didn't work, they (dealer) thought is was some 5 or $600 computer problem and didn't want to mess with it. Got it home, and sure enough, it was a 10 cent fuse.

Since then, have spent almost $5,000 on it- rebuilt transmission, replacement engine, etc..

Sometimes the great deals turn to ashes in your mouth. . .
 
Buddy of mine had luck about that good a few years ago. Bought a litter spreader truck that was locked up for junk price. Found a rebuilt engine, took old one out for a core and when he took the starter off half the bendix was gone. It was wedged in the house'n again the fly wheel. Just to see he turned the engine and then just had to put it back in to see if it ran. He's run several hundred tons of litter through it with out another problem.
