OT-Pa deer season

Are any of you guys having any luck so far this year. This has to be the worst year of hunting that I have ever seen in Pa. I own some property in 2D that we hunt and there has been hardly no one out hunting so far. I drive 20 miles to get there and see 3 or 4 cars parked at old huinting spots. With no snow it is senseless to still hunt. Deer just don't seem to be playing by my rule book. You might know it becasue we have 9 doe tags and 4 buck tags yet to fill. They are there but not moving. Coould they all have gone nocturnal after the rut.

Here in Michigan, the boys were whacking them left and right during bow season, but come gun season, they disappeared. The neighbors right to the east only have 40 acres, but they've gotten at least a dozen,so that must be where some of them went.

Been bad here in Missouri also. Been to warm and windy the first part and now that is it doe season it has cooled off but still to windy for the deer to move well. I took a 9 point buck the last week of bow season just before rifle season opened then I took a doe the first week of rifle season but have not shot since. Have not even seen very many in the fields that I see them in most years. There have been 11 deer taken off my place so far so I guess it could be worse but still not the best year either

In Mass, the state is being blamed for letting so many coyotes survive. Asthey go up, dog cats and deer have been going down.

I've lived in PA all of my life. I have hunted since i was 22 years old, when i owned my own property. I've seen all kinds of weather, conditions, hot, cold, warm, chilly, snow up to my arm pits, hardly any snow, flurries, or rain showers, or flooding conditions!
We say here a bouts--if ya don't like the weather, just wait a bit and it will turn lousy!
I was out on one snowy day, with the temperature at 10 above, standing in snow up to my waist, about a mile from the paved road--nobody in shouting distance, and me on an artificial leg that should of been replaced 5 years before! Never saw a deer, so i returned to my truck, and started back to camp. And almost ran 2 deer over! That was my usual run of luck!
So, don't complain about the weather--if ya don't like it, wait a couple hours and it'll change!
I've seen deer time when the temp was tee-shirt warm, and other times when we needed 2 12-volt batteries hooked together, to start our trucks!

Been good here in Nebraska. So far, 2 bucks and 6 does have been taken off my place.

I got a buck at about 8:00 the first morning of the rifle season. I set up a ground blind on the edge of a creek bank a hundred yards behind my shop and sat inside on an office chair till a buck walked past.

I can still get a doe during the black powder season starting tomorrow, Dec 1. I have a .44 cap and ball six-shooter, but no black powder rifle. But-as bad as they want to get rid of does around here, you could probably plug one with most anything and no one would ever check to see what you actually shot it with.

I'm in 1A. The Boy and I went out Sunday evening to figure out where to sit the following morning. Saw one nice 8 point in the bean field 300yds behind the house, has a couple decent sized does with him. Saw 2 more in our 300 yard walk into the woods and back. None spooked. Total time outside under 1 hour.

I was out all day Monday, the only hunter I saw was a tresspasser from PGH that set up a treestand in the fencerow behind my house. I didn't so much as a single flash of white from a tail all day. Squirrels, turkeys, geese... sure. There was no shortage of deer when I still had corn on the field.

I used to hunt, I have seen many strange things deer do. at least three times I have watched hunters walk right past a deer within 10 yards with deer watching a hunter walk a path-- deer would side step around a tree as the unsuspecting hunter would walk by.

Had an uncle come out of the woods and as he crossed the open field had a doe follow him about 10 yards behind .. he was eating an apple.. My FIL yelled at him told him to give the deer a bite ... LOL Uncle said he never saw a deer all morning.

I hunt 2A as thats where i go to school and 2C as that is home. I agree. Barely any deer. Saw 6 the first day. All doe. Was happy to see some but not what I wanted. Ive seen a lot of deer in archery but they all but disappeared come rifle. I am hoping this saturday will be a good day. Good luck to you the rest of the season.

I process deer here on the farm in Dallas, Pa. Monday was the first day and it was a good one. Ten deer were hanging by 4:00 PM. The size was good, mostly 6 pt.but a few 10 pt. Tuesday was a cutting day and did not finish until after diner. We are open today, but no hunters. Interesting point; I have not had any one asking for pork to be added to Italian,Breakfast,or Kielbasa Sausage.
As far as deer moving, they don"t like to move about in the rain. If you get wet, they do too.Thursday the sun will be out and so will the deer. I think that Saturday will be a busy day. Ed

We have had 3 taken off our 10 acres, and 4 off the neighbor's 16 acres. And one guy who was coming to hunt our property hit a 10 pt buck, with his truck. $5700 worth of damage to the truck. The deer was over 200lbs, but with a 1K insurance deductible, it still is expensive meat.

I blame a lot of it on archery and black powder seasons. Deer have been getting shot at, crippled, and lost for two months now.

It was very quite in my neck of the woods. I seen doe all day long but no buck. I have 2 game cameras out and have not captured any buck pictures.
I think the bow hunters are doing a number on them, I don't like the fact that you can hunt with a cross bow in PA.

My BIL skins deer for a guy who processes deer. A crew of 3 skined 118 deer monday night, 27 were mounts and they skined 40 Tuesday night. There is also a daytime skinning crew so I am not sure how many deer were actually brought in.

I snuck out for about 2 hrs last nite and saw 9 doe and a buck scent trailing a doe. Looked like a beagle chasing. At 350 yds it was too far for me. The doe mostly stood around and looked at me. With the start of doe season on Sat. I will bet they don't do it then. I kind of scared myself when I realised that this makes 50 years of hunting for me. The rut was late this year and I am now convinced that the bucks are laying up with does. I would say we are in mid rut in western, pa. and that is why we aren't seeing them in my areas.

Goose -Where are you at in NE? I have been hunting near Bristow in the Missouri area. We hunt both private and public and we always do well. I always see a big mulie after I have shot an average WT. LOL. We are looking at Eagle Canyon over near Ogalala for next year. Don't know a thing about it, but the guy says he has both public and private areas to hunt on. If you get a MD Buck it is $200. I have taken several nice MD in CO, but none in NE yet. I do see some nice ones though.
