CAN I WIELD THIS PART ?

I have a 1945 International Havester A -FAA it needs to be wielded,can it be done ? was the rear casing made out of Cast Iron or cast Steel ?

It's cast iron but can be welded by someone who knows what they are doing. Check around and there is probably someone local that can help you with it.

They are literally interpreting you post in jest;

WIELD as in wield a gun or a sword

where you most likely meant:

WELD as in welding two pieces of metal together.

You have misspelled weld. Take it to a good welding shop or have them to come out and weld it at your home or where ever the tractor is. Hal

A lot depends on what part it is and if it is one that has a lot of stress on it. If it is a part with a lot of stress if would be by far better to replace it instead of welding it since it is not easy to weld cast iron unless you have all the right stuff to do so

Yes you can weld it. Have to grind it back because if you use a torch it will just puddle. You cant grind it to a point, you have to leave 3/16 of an inch of unground material. Get some nickle rod, heat it up before you weld, after every welding pass, peen it very good, when you get done wrap it so it cools really slowly, cant cool quick and being a smartie here weld is spelled wrong lol

Thank you, and all of you for responding to my Question, I’m new at this “ tractor thing “ I got it so I can restore it for my 2 year old son, so we can ride around to gather in the Fruit Orchard I planted him last summer. I hope it will bring great memories for all of us. He’s our one and only child. God blessed us late in life so time is so important when you’re our age. Every moment counts.
Thank you all God bless.
Edward and our son Riddick 

Sorry for the issues going on, been down that road as many here have, best wishes.

You probably might need to remove the part, and have a good welding shop work it over to keep it's strength. Cast needs the right rod, and the piece needs to be heated up and cooled down special like. Some folks it comes natural to, and then there's the rest of us. ;)

Sounds like a fun project.

If those parts where easy to weld I would have done so on one I have that hit a tree when it got away from the former owner. Sad little tractor and had more parts broken then where good so I used parts from 2 Bs and the A to build my BA
