I found out I wasn't this morning but hey have not been thinking about it till today. Got a call from my neighbor saying he wanted a bale of hay. So I go out to start things up to get the hay loaded. Well first off the Military M35 is parked in the way so I have to move it, but it had low charged battery's so had to charge them up. The go to start the Chev pick up and ya it would start but had to baby it to get it to idle. Then moved on to the Ford 841 with the loader and had to change the fork lift forks out for the bale spike. Then it would not start up so had to play with it for a bit but hey it has been a month since I started it. Guess I need to get it in gear or winter will be here and gone before I am ready for it. LOL

Around here the batteries get pulled and brought into the shop.
Makes it easier to maintain them over the winter months.
Plus they don't get stolen.

About 35 here today at least that is what it was when I was out side. Wish I had say 10 or so of those solar chargers so it would be easier to keep the batteries charged over the winter

Never "ready" for it,but I just crawled under the truck and greased it. One more job that I didn't want to do in the snow and cold wind or inside with things dripping on me.

Yep,
4 tons of pellets in the garage, tire chains are on the tractor, rear blade put on too. Propane is 60%.

So the last two days:
The Farmall H is the fun tractor so she's in the back bay of the garage, fluids freshened, ready for a long Winter's sleep! (Remember, not a farmer; just a lover of tractors!)
The Kubota has had the mid mount mower deck removed, cleaned, greased and set in it's place. I'll wait until Spring to sharpen and balance the blades.
It's place was harboring the garbage cans, so now they're moved where the lawnmower and birdseed containers were, they're moved to their Winter spot back by the Farmall.
I had to get out the snowblower, burn out the old gas, clean her inards with a little naptha in the gas, lube, freshen fuel and oil, lubricate moving parts. Now she's ready also.
Back to the Kubota. I usually keep the 3pt rototiller stored behind her in the middle bay. Moved the roto to the backyard pallets, covered and weighted down. Brought up the rear blade for snow removal. Changed oil filter and oil. Changed hydraulic filter, hydrostat filter, and filled with fresh super udt fluid. Removed toothbar off front loader. Greased and lubed anything with a grease fitting.
Got the buck and doe out in the front yard assembled, wired and lit, and staked them in. It's the first day of rifle in PA, so I hope they make it through!
Time for a Sierra Nevada Pale Beverage.
So, no, I'm not ready; but I'm getting there!

Dodge 2500 is backed into shop ready to go. Farmall 95 next to it bucket on fresh oil and lube.
Geo Tracker wagon got it's winter shoes on today (215/70/15 studded mud tires.
Walk behind snowblower started and checked out. Genset started and checked out, Propane tank filled to 90%. Reznor heater man coming Friday for preventative maint. Doing and annual on for the second time in 11 years :(
Pigeon loft water heaters hooked up.
Winter rubber dog bowls installed and filled.
Yep we're ready

Last year I was not, worked too many hours, too darned tired and sore to keep going, this year is a different story, been catching up on some long overdue chores, one was cleaning, organizing and getting rid of all sorts of things cluttering my yard and garage, it had the makings or foundation for hoarding. Note to self: do not bring home good used or salvage lumber, unless you plan to use it LOL ! Place was so cluttered up, with all that snow last year, no way this year.

Started with getting my old ford ranger running and moving, what a job....done.

I was able to get 2 cord cut and 1 loaded into the back of the garage/basement, 2 year old oak, bucked, drying near stove and I hand split before use, also have some small round real dry, black cherry and the rest, still need to buck more and get some sort of roof up, which I have and can attach to an existing unfinished pole barn, also have materials on hand for a 12x24 wood shed hope to get that done too.

Also figure on getting a 22 ton husky splitter from the new tsc across the road, so I can get this pile cut split and under cover, I have more darned wood in piles that need to get under a shed.

Tractor gets the counterweight on and lives in garage so it starts easily and I can break a path out the driveway.

Still have my upper garden to till, that gets done tomorrow.

It has been so warm, I have stopped hunting, already filled a doe and buck tag, butchered and froze each immediately, need one more, so I'm almost done. It's hard to believe these temperatures and how warm November has been here 2011, never recall it like this ever. Ticks are everywhere.

I've also got an old K10 chevy 4x4 with a plow, sitting for years, with all kinds of new parts in it, really need to get that into the garage and get that done, eliminates using the tractor and has a warm cab. Not road worthy, but great for the yard.

There's more but not so critical, as of tonight my yard is cleared out and I have room to deal with snow, not hemmed in. Still have 1 car to get rid of, 1 F150 to work on and get running, I'm getting there and can see the light at the end of the tunnel now at least. I think back how in heck did I let things go for the last 3 years, just takes being busy for several years.

Did the last oil change in the the mowers today. Snow blade is on my JD A, gas tank is full, hauled about 8 cords of wood to the house over Thanksgiving. Now all I have to do is cut the 8 cords to replace it, and my winter woodworking project is started. I'm as ready as I'll ever be.
