saw this at the menonite salvage yard near Kutztown PA yesterday, Their religion does not allow them to have rubber tires on their tractors

Looks handy.
I assume the Rusted Nuts has a trailer hitch on his Yoder Toter van and can deliver?

Looks just like the same wheels they use around here. They have them on skid steers, even lawn mowers.
There's even a new Deere front wheel assist in the neigborhood that has them, front and rear.

Why rubber? They use tractors with rubber hoses and such but no rubber on tires?

What"s interesting is how they set up those front wheels. What"s with that? Visited a Mennonite a while back who had wheels made of expanded metal like you would use for outdoor machinery stair treads. Asked him how good the traction was... He kind of snickered. Mud flowed right through the wheels down on hubs and axles. He also had a skidsteer that had steel cleats bolted diagonally on the hard ruber wheels.
Family rode in horse pulled carrage. Interestingly, I taught driver education in that area a few years back, and some of the kids were Mennonite - they had family cars, mostly full sized sedans, but no radios in them. So I guess it"s whatever the bishop thinks is appropriate.

Around here the Amish drive regular cars with regular tires. As I'm thinking about it, the individual that we bought our double oven from was a local mennonite. She had a few vehicles including a newer SUV, with regular tires, and her girls didn't dress like they do on television.

Just like with everybody else, every group of Mennonites is a little different. Some of the old order Mennonites are as strict as old order Amish, some are little different than modern society, just live more frugally and simply. My girlfriends grandparents on her mothers side used to be old order earlier in life, I do not know what prompted the change, they don`t say much about it, or anything else for that matter.

Reminds me awhile back I was driving in the country and found a brand new 8300 fwd JD tractor on steel wheels. They even had tires wrapped around the steel to go down the road. I never seen a 100,000 dollar tractor on steel.

Those front wheels have rubber pads in them to cushion the ride. The ones on their skid steers have the same kind of setup.

Several different mennonites/amish around (south of) here. The old order is just that. They have engines for staitonary stuff but have no electricity and aren't allowed to drive anything. Other group has everything but TV's and radio. They have cd's and tapes and modern tractors and vehicles with chrome Other group has no electricity, tractors with steel wheels on the back, rubber up front. Thinks their better than everyone. I'm happy to not live near them anymore. Another group 25 milesfrom me have no tractors but have engines etc. , but the one guy I know from the group rented a rubber tracked skid steer and operated it himself. I've given up on trying to figure them out. I'm happy to not live near them anymore.

I used to go sking in NY. A friend of mine had a family place on 40 acres. A Amish family rented a old barn on the property. They would ride up in their horsedrawn cart, put the horses in a enclosure, and drive away in a car. They came for a drive most Sundays, I guess after or between church meetings. They always returned in the evening, put the car away, and rode home in their carrige.
