OT-Tommy lift for drivers door

My hips and legs have gone so that I can not lift my foot high enough to get in my pickup. I am sure that there must be some of you out there with the same problem. Any suggestions on how to cope with it? A step and string to retrieve it? I heard of one farmer who built a ramp, but that was only good when he drove around the farm, not to the store. A power Tommy lift step would be great if they made such a thing. First thing i need to do is get my helper to mount a handle up at the top of the door. His pickup has one on the passenger side that really helps.

Maybe a fold out step like RV's use could be fit. Some of them are even powered to come down when you open the door and fold back up when you close it. They make running boards like that too but they don't come down as far and are quite pricey.

The step stool with an eye bolt in the top and a few feet of clothsline attached worked well for an old fellow I knew.
I watched him open the door and pick the little stool off the drivers side floor, set it on the ground and get in, then pull up the stool by the cord and place it on the passenger side floor

To get out, he lowered the stool by the cord and stepped out, then set the stool on the driver side floor. Simple and it worked.

Try www.pplmotorhomes.com for a Kwikee single or double powered RV step.A quick fix for your needs I think. Simple to install by a mechanic or some one handy with tools. I buy from PPL a lot and never have a complaint. Right now a single electric step is $365.24 and a Double electric step is $373.40 both plus freight.JH

I don't know if they will retro fit something, but GM has a handicapped package for heir trucks that includes a step & hand holds.

I quit driving before I got that bad. If you get in an accident, some lawyer may say it is all your fault cause you shouldn"t be driving.

Google "Bruno turn a seat." I installed a few of these . They have several models . YOu will love it . Not cheap ,,but exactly what you are looking for .
