S Texas junk yards ?

I'm in Alamo,Texas - right close to the border. Not familar with the area.

Any farm implement scrap yards within a 100 miles of me?
 
there is a tractor scrap yard on the expressway just west of LaFeria.
few if any still around here.
most machinery was sold over to Mexico over the years.
 
Go east on 83, exit Bass Blvd. (Harlingen, La Feria area) Turn left under the bridge and left again on the service road. Down a few hundred yards on the right. Can't for the life of me remember the name of the place now. Nice folks last time I was there, he even let me wander the yard. Mostly green stuff on the lot, and a bunch of it but I got the impression he can and will find you anything. His phone was ringing all the time I was there.

So what is it your looking for? You never know, someone on here may be able to help...
 
I'm mounting a JD model 50 mower (sickle bar, center mount) on a tractor with only a 540 rear PTO. So, I need to get a power shaft from the PTO to the mower head.

My "ideal" would be the drive train from the Detroit Harvester mower of the 1950's which had a double sheave PTO pulley, belt drive to an under axle bearing box, with a telescoping shaft running forward to the mower.

If I have to do it a piece at a time, I'll need:
1. PTO pulley
2. bearing box
3. telescoping driveshaft with U-joints

Really long range plan is to put a live hydraulic pump on the engine crankshaft, and a hydraulic motor on the mower - that would give me "live PTO" and independent control of cutterbar sickle speed. But getting the mower working mechanically will be a big enough first step.

JD made a unit that did that- bolted on the axle housing and had a drop in the front to couple to the mower, and ran from a belt to the pto. May have to do some digging to find one.
