Okay I just dont know how to DOWNload (say off You Tube) a Video or capture and save Video and what format/file type should I use.

What I want to is make a DVD (that will play in anyones DVD player) from a selection of my favorite You Tube videos. Last year for Christmas I gave all my jam buddies a CD of my favorite bluegrass and this year I wanna give them a DVD of my favorite You Tube vids IF I CAN FIGURE IT OUT

I have an external Pinnacle USB "thingy" with the RCA Yellow/Red/White and S Video INPUTS AND OUTPUTS and I have Corel Video Studio Essentials X3 Software and think?? all that should enable me to save and capture a video in real time off You Tube and then take those saved files and burn a DVD IF I WAS SMART ENOUGH TO DO IT. Im tempted to run an S video cable from the Pinnacle USB Output to its Input and then see if Corel will get me to a screen to capture and save the you tube video I watch.

TALK TO ME, LAY SOME LEARNIN ON ME PLEASE Where do I start (hope its NOT read the directions lol)

Ima pretty good hand on my computer but can hardly answer a cell phone or take a pic with a digi cam grrrrrrrrrrr too dern old

OK John, this is the one I used to save the video with.
Savevid
Savevid.com is a tool which gives you the ability to download videos from streaming video sites. You can download videos from Youtube, Google Videos, Metacafe and more in FLV, AVI, MOV, MPG or WMV formats.

John T ,

Why not use the free copy of Real Player ? But keep in mind that some of the stuff on youtube is copyrighted to the author who put it on there as well as Youtube itself , so you could have some legal ramifications there . Some of the stuff that people put on youtube ( such as music videos or music ) is copy righted to someone else such as the music author or to the record company and not to the person who put it on youtube . In fact, youtube tells you that they prefer that you didn"t download their content and they tell you not to upload any copyrighted material to them . Real player allows you to download the videos , convert them to different formats , ( you can even convert audio only and not video after you download the video if you want to ) . Then you have to use another program to make the video and another one to burn the dvd , unless you have a program that can do both . Thats using the free version of Realplayer . Realplayer has a dvd burning function that comes with the pro version tht you have to pay like $29.99 - $49.99 for . Can"t remember the exact amount , but it"s in that amount range . Don"t know if the professional version will actually let you maake a movie like windows movie maker will , but it supposedly will burn them . Realplayer will also play different format types of videos .

Okay, thanks yall, have to hiurry the first wife is yellin sayign we have to leave lol

I can now download and save SO WHAT FORMAT SHOULD I USE TO SAVE (Windows AVI seems to work) AND WHAT TO BURN A DVD SO ANYONE I GIVE A DVD TO CAN POP IT IN THEIR WALLY WORLD DVD PLAYER AND iT PLAY IT???

I use it, works fine.

I prefer to play them back with a media player called VLC. You can use Windows media player if you save in the correct format, but VLC is smart enough to figure it out and play whatever you throw at it (you might need to get the codec pack to play some formats - decodes the digital file into analog sound and video):

If you want to play MIDI files it's better to get a dedicated MIDI player, because it has controls to change the key and/or tempo, and silence or emphasize individual tracks. That's a great way to practice with backing tracks you can download

VLC

Whatever downloader you use should be able to save as audio only (MP3). Just "download" the movie file that's already on your computer and save it again as an MP3.

I think someone mentioned this before, some files might be protected by copyright and if you pass them on to other people, you might get in trouble with the law. Make sure you keep those files only for yourself.
Well that being said, I would recommend that you use Audials. It works very well with downloading videos and converting them to any format you want (it can be video or audio) and it works with other video and music websites as well. You can also try, for example, recording internet radios or downloading music from grooveshark, like I do. Just a suggestion.
You can take a look at this tutorial I found for you, but it"s really easy to use:

The copyright thing is only if you pass it on for profit. Personal use is acceptable.

...and that's only if you get caught. Johnny Law is not going to hunt you down and prosecute you for downloading someone's video of making a mess out of a field and calling it "plowing."
