Just got to thinkin',

You guys probably think I don't even own a workbench. LOL!

Anyhoo, tore this jasper down. Front driveshaft output shaft and that doggone toryington bearing is in pretty darned bad shape.

Hate to think what that would cost. Might have to price a used unit or just let 'er howl in four wheel drive?

Allen, If you used your work bench, you would have to worry about mixing tractor parts and pickup parts. If your like me, you can't do just one at a time.

(quoted from post at 17:46:58 11/22/11)Plum do not like these new CHAIN drive T cases , give me a good old NP 205.

Didn't read anything about the chain being bad... Gear drive cases still have plenty of bearings to go bad. Had to rebuild my fair share of 205's and 203's. Personally I like the 2.72:1 low range in the newer cases over the old 2:1 in the 205's.

Yep, that's the guy.

Figured while I had the thing out of there, might as well see what kind of shape the transfer case is in.

I checked car-part.com and found many tranfer cases across the great state of Nebraska. I guessed it was a 96 K1500 4L60e because I couldn't remember what you said it was. There are many starting around 125 and going up to 575. Check it out.

No.... you've shown us the work bench before, or the general area where it sits under the pile of stuff... LOL

Allen, let her howl! My co-worker drove my "07 Chevy 2500 back from South Carolina, about 6 hours, at 78 mph in 4-High. It"s got a little howl to it now. The only real problem I"ve had is the "pump rub" issue found on this era transfer case. Fixed it with JB Weld 100k miles ago and haven"t looked back.

Okay,

Think I've got this little dilemma on the wane (you should be able to see that the hard surfacing is all but gone on the shaft).

Found a good used shaft on ebay for $29 bucks and that ball bearing that lives on the other side of the gear has to be replaced ‘cause it is WAYYYY rough.

Okay, off to the parts house to get a handful of seals, another tube of aerobolic sealer and a bearing.
