man i got to check my truck said i shows no trouble codes, it shifts at the proper speed just,to hard from 1st to 2nd where to check next.

When you find out, let me know. I've got a 2000 and a 2006 that do the same thing. I did recently hear, don't know if it is true or not, there is a problem with the splines on the inside of the driveshaft yoke wearing excessively.

I have heard that a clogged fuel filter will cause this due to the increased throttle angle necessary to accelerate. Not sure if I believe it but I figured I would pass it on. I think we have some professionals on this topic here on yt so hopefully they chime in.

The best place you can go is Transgo. Just google that and the first thing to come up will be "Tech Solutions". You'll be able to figure it out from there. I have been rebuilding transmissions for years using their shift kits, and they never come back! (Unless it's a plow truck.) Be warned, you may have to pull the trans to fix it, (if it's a pump update, for example) but do what they tell you and you won't be sorry. If the correction is external (without removing trans), you can install their kits with a few simple hand tools. You don't have to be a transmission whiz, either. Fritz.

Sounds like you've got a stuck 1-2 accumulator valve. You can get to it when you pull the bottom pan off. I'm pretty sure if it sticks, there won't be any error code. It's just a piston in an aluminum bore and a spring. No electronics.

throttle position doesn't matter it's still the same,it doesn't slam into gear but it's about 3 times as hard as it should be.

This problem has been plaguing this transmission ever since the day it was converted from a 3-speed to the four-gear style.

Don't know anything about your truck, don't know the miles and can't "feel" the shift, but if it ONLY OCCURS on the 1-2 shift and throttle position makes absolutely no difference, I'd sure be for looking at that 1-2 accumulator housing area for a hard part failure.

I posted a picture for you in your earlier post about this (an old 4L60 photo). This housing lives right behind the step motor on the right side of the truck.

Drop this housing down using a 10mm socket on the three little bolts and inspect the cushion spring (probably broken), piston and seals. Make sure the piston is not cracked and that the hole is not egg-shaped.

Sure hope this helps,

Allan

I've found a few with the accum. piston stuck and a bit crooked. That makes the 1-2 shift very hard. Also just fixed one with a jammed servo on the brake band - but that has much more dire affects.

I suggest you pull the pan and look inside the bottom. Don't lose any check balls if you get pulling the control body.

'Nothing to do with this problem of course, but the weirdest one I ever ran into was a 4L60 that would drop to 20lbs pressure anytime the governor pressure was above 1st gear.

Darned axle had walked out of the housing on the auxiliary valve body. That SOB took me 2 days to find.

Cured it with a couple of taps of a small hammer tho. :>)

My 97 did this.

Took it to my transmission guy and he installed a shift kit that took care of the problem. The TSB called for a rebuild but the valve that was the problem was included in the shift kit.

At least that is the way I remember it. Been several years.
