Tractor tire reliners

I found what might be the ideal solution for my problem which is rear tire dry rot. I located some tractor tire reliners at Gempler"s. Anybody ever use this product? Your input would be of help to me.

Thanks,

If the cord structure of the tire is really rotted, the reliner will only help it hold air until it is used for pulling a load. Then the tire will simply pull apart. I have seen it happen. Reliners help "bridge" holes and breaks in the tire. And they may help keep the tune from chafing if some of the cords inside are loose because the tire was run flat or underinflated. During WWII, new tires for civilian use were impossible to buy. I saw one car tire with a Life magazine used as a boot. That driver drove slowly.

Yes. I bought a pair from them to try to save a pair of hard to find 9x40s. The instructions say to over inflate them slightly to keep them from slipping. I did, then left for an hour or so. When I came back, one of the old dry rotted tires had exploded with so much force it blew the fender right off and dented the seat. If I'd have had my head in there,it would have killed me instantly. They're gonna find themselves in a major lawsuit I'm afraid,if they keep selling those things.

Been using a pair of liners on my ford since the early seventies. No problems so far. I run about 16 lbs pressure. My Wards Riverside tires were shot when I bought the tractor and they still are.

Years ago when the year old tires cracked between every lug. That is why I will never buy a new Firestone.

I use tire liners in the front tires on all of my mowing tractors.

They are VERY effective in preventing thorn punctures.

They are not intended to effectively extend the life of rotted tires.

DickleD we installed them to cover cracks in the sidewalls of some farm tires. However, most of the time they would wear a hole in the tube. They are NOT a solution for dry rotted tires. The only solution is another tire.
