I changed my john deere 3010 from 6 to 12 volt and put on a new switch (well not yet) can"t figure out the wiring, switch has 2 bat connections 1 ign, 1 assc, none are marked ground, manual follows color coded system, but mind has been replaced with all the same color.. HELP

I would guess the three terminals would be battery, ignition, and accessory. Ground is not needed on the switches, just on the power consuming items and is through the tractor itself.

There weren't any 6 volt 3010's. It might help if you give a little more detail. Gas, LP, Diesel ? Key switch ?

The diagram will show you the colour as well what that wire is attached to at each end. Test for continuity with an ohm meter to trace the wire when the colour can't be used.

The switch would only have two battery terminals if it was a 24 volt diesel 3010. They never had any that ran on 6 volt. If it had two six volt batteries they where in series making it 12 volt system. If you run two 12 volt batteries in series making it 24 volt then you will fry the wiring.

You need to get a JD service manual not an IT one. It will give you the complete wiring diagram. You can track the replaced wires to the source and straighten them out.
